BOG OAK COLLECTION: LINDBERG Eyewear uses 6,000-year-old oak wood for the new, limited collection

LINDBERG, the Danish Eyewear brand renowned for its innovative designs and premium materials, is launching its Bog Oak special edition in December 2024. This limited collection, featuring only 500 pieces worldwide, introduces four distinct styles, embodying both luxury and heritage.

The Bog Oak collection showcases Eyewear meticulously crafted from a 6000-year-old oak log, discovered in Denmark. The wood’s dark hue is the result of centuries of natural preservation in a bog.

LINDBERG blends this ancient material with modern design, supporting the fine wood with buffalo horn, and titanium to create visually stunning and comfortable Eyewear.

Each piece in the collection is a testament to the Brand’s dedication to craftsmanship, with artisans selecting the finest wood sections, precisely milling them to highlight the unique grain and colour and integrating multi-layer buffalo horn for added strength and aesthetic appeal. The process culminates in the addition of screwless titanium temples, celebrated for their ultra-light weight and flexibility, resulting in Eyewear that combines historical significance with modern engineering.

The collection’s four styles—1821, 1828, 1849, and 1854—are contemporary classics.

The Bog Oak log, recovered in 1950 and validated for its age by the National Museum of Denmark, underwent a drying process until 1973. Subsequent examinations and extensive C-14 dating tests by the National Museum of Denmark validated its age and historical significance. This material’s rarity and LINDBERG’s innovative design make the collection one of the Brand’s most exclusive. Available in select stores from December 2024, it offers an opportunity to own a piece of history reimagined as luxury Eyewear.
