Barbour x Ally Capellino – S/S 22

Leading British heritage and lifestyle brand Barbour launches its first ever collaboration designed for both men and women, with British unisex bag and accessories brand, Ally Capellino.

With so many values and design principles in common it is perhaps a surprise that the two have not worked together before; both brands have a practical and pared back approach to design, are synonymous with waxed cotton fabric, and are underpinned by a ‘made to last’ mentality.

Starting with basic Barbour shapes as the foundation, the Ally Capellino design team homed in on elements such as poachers and bellow pockets, stripped out linings and added coloured

binding to seams to highlight construction, internal pockets are stitched visibly through to the exterior. The story is rounded off with classic Ally Capellino leather buckle and strap detailing.

Alison Lloyd, creative director and founder of Ally Capellino said,

“We really enjoyed working on this project with fellow Brit-brand Barbour. There is so much synergy in what we and they do, plus I love a good archive and Barbour’s is full of character and authenticity. When it came to the shoot location, I straight away thought of using some rocky outcrop like Brimham rocks. Something that makes the scale of the people small in relation to nature and gives a bit of a sense of how small we are in the universe. Donald Christie the photographer came up with Rough Torr, near Bodmin, which achieved that dramatic feel.”

The range comprises six jackets – three for men and three for women – complimented by three unisex bags and hats, all in a classic palette of navy, royal blue and olive enlivened with contrasting flashes of coffee and khaki. With signature shaped pockets flaps and an androgynous, practical look the overall feel is easy to wear, timeless, yet striking pieces that will inevitably be returned to for many years to come.

Men’s Outerwear

The Barbour Hand Casual is a cropped two-tone jacket with hand pockets at the waist and a contrasting band of colour at the bottom of the jacket. Available in Army Green and Yellow or Navy and Army Green, this relaxed style has a chunky exposed zip at the front and the collar can be worn down or zipped all the way up.

The Barbour Back Casual draws inspiration from the classic Northumbria Jacket. With a slightly longer fit, it includes Barbour’s signature handwarmer pockets at the chest alongside two bellows pockets at the hips with press stud fastenings. Available in Army Green and Navy.

The Barbour Ernest Casual is a hooded jacket with two bellows pockets at the waist alongside tabs that can be pulled in to create a fitted silhouette. Available in Army Green and Navy, each design is lined with the contrasting colour.
