Ashton Adams – „HOV“ + Exclusive Interview

Hello, thank you for your time, please introduce yourself in a few words.

How’s it going! My name is Ashton Adams and I am a DJ, Music Producer and Drummer from Canada.

Please give us an update about your new single „HOV,“ how it came together and what was the inspiration behind .

The reception for „HOV“ has been absolutely incredible! Spotify editorial playlists such as „New Music Friday Canada“, „Bangers“ and the legend Austin Kramer himself supported it on his UNreleased playlist. 100M’s and myself are feeling very grateful! 100M’s, the rap duo on the track, sent me a bunch of hip hop demos they created and I heard the vocals and instantly fell in love with it. I also loved the lyrics and how it mentioned one of my favourite rappers HOV aka Jay-Z! After that I immediately hit up Bryan „BC“ Cockett, the engineer of the track, received the acapella, went into my studio, imported the vocals and began working away. I truly had no solid direction on where I wanted to go with it and just let the creativity flow. The track ended up having a mixture of g-house, tech house, bass house with a big „festival style“ drop and a sprinkle of UK House. I was able to experiment with different textures for the drop as that was one of my favourite things to do while making this song. Overall I am very very pleased with how this turned out.

Name 5 things we all should know about you as an artist?

– I really love creating high energy, hard hitting house music that is bass heavy focused

– I am a multi-instrumentalist including playing the drums (my first love)

– Family always comes first in my life

– I LOVE to meet new people

– I released „Move To The Beat Like“ earlier this year

What fashion style or brand would best describe your music?

The fashion style or brand that would best describe my music would be Vans. I grew up listening to many different genres including heavy metal which has influenced how I make my music which is on the harder end of things. I also wear Vans everyday. Hit me up for that sponsorship yall! LOL!

Tell us more about your songs, what is usually the main topic, where the inspiration usually comes from and what message do you want to send to the world?

I heard Skrillex say in an interview one time to make the music that you absolutely love no matter what people think about it and I have focused on just making music that I truly truly love. I listen to alot of dance music but also other genres including hip hop and I love blending different genres especially with vocalists that I work with. A message I want to send to the world with my music is to let loose, enjoy this one life you have, always be good to one another and spread the love!

6. Beside music, do you have any special talents?

I can catch a fly with my bare hand! LOL!

Being on stage feels like….

Being onstage feels like when you first bite into a Krispy Kreme donut! ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!!

How did you learn to to produce and play drums? What have you learned first?

I am self taught when it comes to producing and playing the drums. I would watch Youtube videos and just watch different producers and drummers do their thing and would go back and try and re-create/expand on what I learned. I did take piano lessons when I was 7 years old but stopped because I hated theory and just continued to self teach myself. I then ventured into playing the bass guitar, drums, guitar and in high school learned to play the saxophone.

A question you’d like to answer, but never been asked in an interview before?

Q: What is the singer Cher’s background?

A: Cher is Indigenous, more specifically Cherokee. Which is why her name is Cher which is short form for Cherokee.
