Apryll Aileen – „Catch Me“ + Exclusive Interview

Thank you very much for your time! Before we introduce your new release to our readers – what kind of drink would you recommend to zip on while they listen to your new music?

I recommend sipping on a premium vodka, dirty shaken martini or a glass of scotch, neat.

Please give us an update about – new single, new album, tour dates, new videos?!

I just released my new song “Catch Me” that I produced in the UK. It’s an electro-pop tune that will make you feel badass. I actually filmed the music video out in the Atlantic Ocean and had the US navy come up along side my catamaran, wondering why I was getting so close to the USS Gerald R. Ford aircraft carrier on its maiden voyage outside the USA. The song has total spy vibes but really is just about my life as an independent female artist, continually on the run, following my mission and always on the go from one city to the next.

Apple Music added it to the editorial playlist for New Pop in Germany and Austria so that’s really exciting! I’m releasing my next single in May/June along with the full album „Bad Things“, so definitely stay tuned to my socials (I’m the most active on Instagram and YouTube but of course make sure you follow on Apple Music and Spotify).

I’ll be touring in North America this year but don’t yet have plans of coming to the UK or Europe but that could change!

We live in times of many conspiracy theories. Which, harmless, theory would you wish were true? (For example Dinos living inside Earth or E.T. living in a home in California)

I’m a bit of a physics/psychology/science nerd so for me, I would be excited to find out that the scientists at CERN (the large hadron collider – the world’s largest particle accelerator) really are messing with timelines and creating rips in the space-time continuum even potentially time traveling to change things in our reality. I find the Mandela Effect phenomenon really interesting and the thought of being in parallel universes is very intriguing.

What fashion style or brand would best describe your music?

I would say a mix between the timeless classic brand of Chanel, and the fun, adventure that a pair of Levi jeans can bring you.

Tell us more about your songs! Topics! Message!?

I write a lot about relationships, experiences and adventures I have when traveling and a bit of a deeper introspective look at both sides of human nature – the light and the dark. I like to go deep with myself and understand the reasons why I would choose to act in a certain way, or perceive a situation as such because these personal stories, can resonate with people all around the world. We are not alone in this – we are a collective conscious.

Beside music, do you have any special talents?

I was involved in marketing, public relations and the film industry before I decided to pursue music full time. I love storytelling. I also used to be a crazy athlete – I was really big into basketball, volleyball and rowing, but now I’m really into swimming, cycling and yoga.

Name 5 things we all should know about you as an artist?!

1) I adore animals and have grown up always having a family dog – dogs are everything to me.

2) I really need to be in close proximity to an ocean or a large body of water. I grew up on the East Coast of Canada, always right by an ocean and for whatever reason, it’s the one place I can always go that reminds me of how small and insignificant my small problems in life can be.

3) If it wasn’t for my background in competitive sports and having a father who was in the military, I would not have the determination and perseverance I have to keep pushing in this industry, running my own business. It takes tremendous fortitude and I’m so grateful for the last year because there have been many successes!

4) Songwriting is everything to me and when I’m really in my flow, I often wake up with melodies and songs in my head.

5) Someday I will get back to being more involved in the film industry, but for now, I’ve got to focus on getting the rest of the music made. Stay tuned! It’s going to be a MASSIVE year!

How did you learn to sing/ to write/ to play??

I’ve played piano since I was 5 years old. My grandmothers both played as well as my mother so I grew up studying classical piano on my grandmother’s old piano at the house. My dad and uncles always had guitars and harmonicas at the table and a dog at our feet. Singing was my biggest fear – I pushed through because I felt I had to and now here I am as a full time songwriter/singer. Discovering my voice has been a really interesting journey. In my teenage years, I toyed with becoming a concert pianist but decided against it. Later in life, I learned how to sing and play guitar on my own, merely as a tool to express my writing.

A question you’d like to answer, but never been asked in an interview before?! + Answer pls

A lot of fans, friends and strangers tell me how confident I come across and ask me how I’m so sure of things and if I ever have insecurities and doubts. Well, yes of course I do – probably more often than you’d think. But my desire and determination is much stronger than any doubt. I have faith and believe in myself and trust in God/source energy, that things will work out. The more you can put yourself in that headspace and be grateful for where you are and truly believe, the more confident you will naturally be and the more life will wondrously unfold for you.
