Adam O’Rua „Rainfall“ + Exclusive Interview

1. Thank you very much for your time! Before we introduce your new release to our readers – what kind of drink would you recommend to zip on while they listen to your new music?

A smooth Irish whiskey if you’re into the drink. Or a ginger kombucha if you’re on a health buzz, no judgement here.

2. Please give us an update about – new single, new album, tour dates, new videos?!

So the video for Rainfall just dropped and it’s probably the project I’m most proud of to date. We made a €10k music with a €100 budget and that for me is the beauty of the independent artist’s hustle and having amazingly talented friends. People seem to be really enjoying both the visuals and the track as well, with it’s whole 80s aesthetic. Means the world to me.

The next release I’m working on at the moment will be the joint music video for “If I Had…” and „Waited For You“, two tracks off my debut EP “EVA”. They both speak about love from different aspects and I’m planning on building my own AI vision models to make the visuals so that should be interesting (if I can get it to work haha). I’ll also be teasing some new tracks on my socials over the next while and bringing you some acoustic versions and covers as well so you can get to know me better. I’ll also be announcing some gig dates in Dublin, London and some other spots soon, and some other stuff that I can’t announce yet but should be exciting.

3. We live in times of many conspiracy theories. Which, harmless, theory would you wish were true? (For example Dinos living inside Earth or E.T. living in a home in California)

I don’t necessarily wish it was true but the funniest conspiracy theory I heard recently was that Avril Lavigne is a clone that got swapped in for the real Avril years back. Wild.

4. What fashion style or brand would best describe your music?

A deep blue, silk, vintage tailored suit and a fine pair of brogues.

5. Tell us more about your songs! Topics! Message!?

At the moment my projects are centred around telling the story of Adam and Eva and their journey, their love. I’ve drawn a lot on my real experiences of first love and so these songs come from a very real place of opening your heart to someone and living the journey of love and loss. As I continue this story over my next couple of projects I want to really take you into that world and explore the breadth of our lived experience on Earth. To dance through life, in all its joy and suffering, learning what it means to be human.

6. Beside music, do you have any special talents?

It’s funny cause some people only know me for this (depending on what scene they met me in) but I’m a dancer as well. You can expect to see a lot more of that side of my craft if you catch any of my live shows or if you follow me on YouTube, TikTok or my second IG account. I’ll be posting up videos from hip-hop battles, little bits of choreo that I make, some stuff from my classes. The occasional DC haha.

7. Name 5 things we all should know about you as an artist?!

I’m Irish and very proud of my roots.

Expect a wide variety from me – my taste is eclectic and there’s a whole lot of different styles I want to explore and mix together.

I have big plans for bringing together the music and dance communities in new ways, first in Ireland and then we’re gonna take it worldwide.

I’m an independent in nearly every aspect of my craft, meaning that nearly everything I do has some element that’s DIY and self-taught. I want to show people how much you can do, even if you don’t have the budget that matches your vision at the start.

I’m starting a mailing list soon to keep my fans updated on new music and videos, upcoming shows, my first merch drops, NFTs, crypto and other cool stuff. And you better believe I’ll remember who was there supporting me at the start of my career, so if you want to be in my inner circle of fans then drop your email to me via this link: https://withkoji.com/@AdamORua

8. How did you learn to sing/ to write/ to play??

I started playing guitar and writing tunes when I was 9, mostly because a lot of my mates were into music and I was becoming a major audiophile at that age. Taught myself for a bit and then got lessons. I busked in Dublin for years as a teenager until I got sick of everyone constantly asking for “pictures with Ed Sheeran” or getting me to play his music. Got into rapping and music production at that point, again self-taught, Dropped the rapping (for now) but kept learning how to produce off of YouTube videos and just figuring shit out myself, studying artists I respect and experimenting mostly. I think getting more into dance and hip hop definitely influenced my style and my trajectory as an artist. And you know I’m always learning every day.

9. A question you’d like to answer, but never been asked in an interview before?! + Answer pls

The coolest animal on Earth is the mantis shrimp because it can basically Hadouken in real life. It punches so fast that it superheats air bubbles in the water into plasma. Fucking sick.
