1. Please introduce yourself in a few words
I’m 36birds, I’m a 27-year-old singer and songwriter, currently based in Zurich, Switzerland.
2. Please give us an update about – new single, ep, tour dates, new videos etc.
My song “Boy” just came out as a free download on SoundCloud and you can find the video to it on my YouTube-channel. I’m super excited to share more of my songs with you very soon. The following singles will be available on all streaming-platforms, and they each come with remixes by some of my favourite DJ’s. I’m looking forward to start working on new projects.
3. Name 5 things we all should know about you as an artist
My sound is a mix between r’n’b and ravey-elements
I’m also a Techno-DJ
My biggest inspirations are Azealia Banks, Robyn, The Weeknd and Prince
My lyrics are often thoughts, rhymes and sentences, that i’ve been journaling for years.
I’m a sucker for love songs
4. Which fashion style or brand would best describe your music?
My music is heavily influenced by rave and hip hop-culture, so I think brands such as Mowalola or Barragan reflect that really well. Also, brands like Hood By Air and Telfar who have this “queer” approach to black streetwear are very important to me.
5. Tell us more about your songs! Topics! Message!?
I mostly write about my own experiences, so I talk about thematics such as race, sexuality, love and other issues I deal with in my life. Songwriting is very therapeutic to me, so my lyrics are typically very personal, but I hope people will be able to identify with my lyrics and find some sort of coping-mechanism in my music, like I do too.
6. Beside music, do you have any special talents?
I’d say I have a good eye for fashion. If it wasn’t for music, that would probably have been the career I’d pursue.
7. Being on stage feels like….!
A whirlwind of emotions. You’re nervous at first, but once you’re at it, you feel this rush of adrenalin, and you just want more and more.
8. How did you learn to sing/write/play??
I spent a big part of my childhood at concerts and dance-studios. I was always surrounded by musicians, so it was only natural to get into music myself. I’ve been singing for as long as I can remember, but I started writing and recording my own songs at the age of fifteen.
9. A question you’d like to answer, but never been asked in an interview before?!
If i‘m invited to Rihanna’s baby shower. Unfortunately, the answer is no, but maybe I’ll make it to the next one.
