Walt Disco – „You Make Me Feel So Dumb“ + Exclusive Interview

Thank you very much for your time! Before we introduce your new release to our readers – what kind of drink would you recommend to zip on while they listen to your new music?

A dirty martini with exxxxxxxxtra olive brine (a really dirty martini)

Please give us an update about – new single, new album, tour dates, new videos?!

We just released a new single ‚You Make Me Feel So Dumb‘, and with it announced our second album ‚The Warping‘ – Out 14th June. We’re playing a smattering of festivals over the summer, including Wave Gotik in Leipzig! We’ll be touring America supporting OMD in September and October, followed by our own headline tour across the UK and Europe in November which will of course include Germany! We’ll be releasing two more singles over the next couple of months, each will have accompanying videos even more outrageous than the last.

We live in times of many conspiracy theories. Which, harmless, theory would you wish were true? (For example Dinos living inside Earth or E.T. living in a home in California)

We believe in all the sightings of gnomes and faeries, they’re definitely real and are living among us right under our noses. The gnomes in your garden come alive when you’re not home, and there are faeries in the woods.

What fashion style or brand would best describe your music?

We’ve always felt akin to the new romantics in a way. We love big earrings and suits and leather. Although, we never tie ourselves to any one style.

Tell us more about your songs! Topics! Message!?

With our new music we’re focusing on themes of change, it’s very biographical but each topic is framed in a way that can make it universal enough for anyone to relate to. It’s the most vulnerable we’ve ever been in our music. We examine struggles in our past, present and even look to the future. We address a lot of hardship but the prevailing sentiment is that of hope, growth and inner strength.

Beside music, do you have any special talents?

We are all exceptionally talented and generous lovers.

Name 5 things we all should know about you as an artist?!

See above

We’re always seeking to transform ourselves and our sound from record to record.

We all contribute to every song, each one of us has a special touch that together makes Walt Disco unique.

Our live show is an essential part of the Walt Disco package.

Our new album is out 14th of June and you should pre-order it x

How did you learn to sing/ to write/ to play??

Writing is something you learn through great trial and error. When you’re a young kid who dreams of being in a band, you start writing songs to fulfill that dream. Then writing the songs becomes the most important thing of all, it’s so multidimensional and healing. I (Jocelyn) took to singing as I had started writing songs and wanted to do them justice. The rest of us learned to sing on the job. We all picked up instruments in our early teens, and have been making our way with them since, learning new ones along the way when we want to make something new.

A question you’d like to answer, but never been asked in an interview before?! + Answer pls

Q: What are your day jobs?

A: Jocelyn and Charlie are kitchen porters. Jack works in a hotel restaurant. Finlay was a barista / ice marshall. Lewis worked at a software company in a position that sounds made up.
