Since its introduction in 2008, the Averin Chronograph by UNION GLASHÜTTE has stood for a distinctive combination of a striking square case and Glashütte watchmaking expertise. The new generation builds directly on this tradition, reinterpreting the chronograph with a design language even more clearly influenced by the automotive world – from the precision of classic dashboards to the dynamism of modern sports cars.
The new models are aimed at those who appreciate clear structures and a direct, unadulterated display of time. With its precise lines, the dial evokes the logic of a cockpit: everything uncluttered, everything functional, everything focused on the driver. The embossed tile pattern incorporates technical surfaces from motorsport and lends the watch a striking sense of depth. The double-sided anti-reflective sapphire crystal, domed at the corners, reinforces this impression and creates a look reminiscent of the flowing lines of iconic car bodies.
The square 41 x 41 mm case comes in two versions: a model with a white dial and sky-blue accents, and a midnight-blue version with deep red details. The displays follow a clear, instrument-like logic: small seconds at 9 o’clock, minute counter at 3 o’clock, and date at 6 o’clock. Polished and brushed surfaces create strong contrasts, while lacquered chronograph hands in orange or white are reminiscent of speedometer needles. Super-LumiNova® on the hour and minute hands guarantees optimal legibility – day and night.
The strap options also draw on automotive inspiration: A leather strap with racing perforations and a sporty rubber strap with a distinctive texture emphasize the chronograph’s dynamic character. The square tachymeter ring reinforces the connection to speed and is reminiscent of the scales on classic sports cars. Thanks to the interchangeable strap system, the look can be flexibly adapted – from a sporty appearance to a more elegant style.
Inside, the mechanical UNG-27.S2 movement with a silicon balance spring and a power reserve of at least 65 hours keeps time. It combines modern precision with a design language clearly inspired by the fascination of automobiles.
