1. Thank you very much for your time! Before we introduce your new release to our readers – what kind of drink would you recommend to sip on while they listen to your new music?
A good coffee in the morning… or a glass of red wine if it’s late
Personally I’ll stick with the coffee these days. But honestly, anything works as long as you take the time to really listen.
2. Please give us an update about – new single, new album, tour dates, new videos?!
A lot is happening!
“I Cared For You” is out now and it’s the beginning of a new chapter for me. My next album Naked is coming very soon, and it’s definitely the most personal project I’ve ever made.
We’re also preparing a brand new live show, new visuals, lots of touring… Europe, South America and a few other places. It’s going to be a busy year and I’m really looking forward to sharing all this with people.
3. We live in times of many conspiracy theories. Which, harmless, theory would you wish were true?
I’d love to believe that somewhere there’s a parallel universe where every unfinished track actually gets finished.
Mine… and everyone else’s
There must be thousands of amazing songs living there.
4. Tell us more about your songs! Topics! Message!?
This album is really about life over the last few years.
Love, grief, family, change, becoming a father, losing my parents, getting sober… all these experiences naturally found their way into the music.
I don’t really try to send messages though.
I just try to make something honest enough that people can put their own story into it.
5. Beside music, do you have any special talents?
I make a pretty good carbonara… according to my kids. Which is probably the only opinion that really matters.
Apart from that, I’m not sure. I can spend eight hours tweaking one snare drum… I don’t know if that’s a talent or a problem.
6. Name 5 things we all should know about you as an artist!
- I still play guitar all the time.
- Everything starts with a melody.
- I make music for clubs, but emotions always come first.
- I never really follow trends. I just follow what feels right.
- I’m still as excited by finding one beautiful chord today as I was twenty years ago.
7. The road so far…. who or what was your biggest support??
Without any doubt, my wife.
She’s been there since the very beginning, long before the tours, the festivals or any kind of success. She’s seen every stage of this project and somehow always knew how to keep me grounded.
This career can be amazing, but it can also be exhausting and sometimes a bit overwhelming. Having someone who reminds you who you are outside of music is incredibly valuable.
I honestly don’t think I’d be where I am today without her.
8. A question you’d like to answer, but never been asked in an interview before?! + Answer pls
Q: What’s something you’ve become much worse at over the years?
I think I’ve become much worse at pretending.
When I was younger, I probably cared more about trying to fit into people’s expectations, saying yes to everything, trying to please everyone.
Today I’m much more comfortable saying “that’s not me.”
Ironically, I think that also made me a better artist. The more honest I became in life, the more honest my music became.
