Michael Butera – „The Green Garden“ + exclusive Interview

1. Hello, thank you for your time, please introduce yourself in a few words!

Hi! My name is Michael Butera and I’m a singer/ songwriter from Melbourne, Australia. I love movies, music theatre, a great murder mystery and love to eat popcorn.

2. Please give us an update about – new single, new album, tour dates, new videos?!

My new single „The Green Garden“ Came out last Friday, July 10 and it’s the first single I have released in around 2 years.

I’ve been overwhelmed with the response of the single and very excited to be able to be releasing more music soon and I’m aiming to have an EP completed by Early to mid next year. The dream is to finally get over to the UK and North America to play live for people. Travel restrictions permitting of course.

3. Name 5 things we all should know about you as an artist?!

1. I started teaching myself piano at 11 years old

2. In 2011, I released my first single which I got to film a music video on the streets of New York city, which was a blast!

3. I like to write songs that are; a)based on my life experiences and b) are also not based on my experiences. I enjoy trying to write from other people’s perspectives even when I may not know what they have gone through.

4. I’ve had a few of my songs translated into French for other artists to use on their albums.

5. In 2012, I was listed as a Billboard breakout artist, when my first single was getting a lot of traction in clubs and venues around the world.

4. What can we expect 2020 from you?

Another single later in the year and lots more writing, recording and social distance performing (going live online)

5. Do you have bad habits? A guilty pleasure you can’t seem to quit?

Im‘ a sucker for popcorn and a great mystery film or Tv series! Anything that will keep me guessing till the very end.

I also sway too much when I’m standing still. I need to stop this.

6. Beside music, do you have any special talents?

I’m pretty good at knowing rotten tomato scores for movies cause I’m a little bit of a film buff. I can also wiggle my nose and upper lip together kind of like the witch in Bewitched. I’m not sure I would call it a talent though.

7. Being on stage feels like….!

..Feels like butterflies and bliss together simultaneously. The nerves of being up there but the comfort of know it’s where you belong.

8. Must Have – and No-Go in your Wardrobe! – Favorite Fashion Brand and Fragrance?

At the moment, I’m digging superdry! I’m also wearing a Roberto Cavalli Fragrance, which I love.

9. A question you’d like to answer, but never been asked in an interview before?! + Answer pls“

Is being an artist a real job? Yes, It is. It’s a job where you invest in yourself, your creativity, your vulnerabilities and then sacrifice everything you can to allow people to witness it, be it on a recording or live in front of them. It’s a job that is fuelled by passion and forces you to experience the incredible highs and the inevitable lows of the industry. Following your heart is always key.
