1. Thank you very much for your time! Before we introduce your new release to our readers – what kind of drink would you recommend to zip on while they listen to your new music?
A ginger beer for sure. Spicy, sweet and all ages.
2. Please give us an update about – new single, new album, tour dates, new videos?!
Right now Walls is my main release! I have a piano ballad version of it coming out August 21st. I’ve had Walls in my back pocket for years! I’m so ready for it to be in the world. Last year I released 4 singles, 3 major music videos, a debut album ‚The Lost Art of Pulling Through‘, and performed my first festival tour. I’m currently starting my second album and performing house concerts throughout the fall.
3. We live in times of many conspiracy theories. Which, harmless, theory would you wish were true? (For example Dinos living inside Earth or E.T. living in a home in California)
Wish were true: that illusionists were actually performing miraculous stunts and hiding behind the ‚illusionist‘ title so we don’t all freak out
4. What fashion style or brand would best describe your music?
Thrifted Cottage Weekend
5. Tell us more about your songs! Topics! Message!?
A lot of my music is written about personal stories through travelling. I travelled all over the world throughout my twenties and met remarkable people and experienced the world – good and bad. I write very honestly, whatever is sitting on the top of my heart. I try not to bury too much of my music in metaphors and I find writing is a release. I’m not great with conversation and expressing myself, but through music it becomes very easy.
6. Beside music, do you have any special talents?
I’m a ballet dancer and a gymnast! I’ve been dancing since I was 5 and I was a part of the Melbourne, Australia classical ballet school at 22. I was a competitive gymnast and competed all over the country.
7. Name 5 things we all should know about you as an artist?!
Jazz is my favourite genre to write
Rock n Roll is my favourite genre to listen to (Cage the Elephant is my favourite band)
I have a musical theater background (Check out my music video for The Vow)
My Top 5 artists are Cage The Elephant, Feist, Glen Hansard, Alt J and Gang Of Youths
I write music for films!
8. How did you learn to sing/ to write/ to play??
Mimicking! There was music always playing in my household growing up. I was singing along to it all the time. Guitar, I learned from youtube, and piano, I was in lessons. I was surrounded by it all the time. It came so naturally to me over the years.
Writing I have no idea. I was writing songs in kindergarten. That never made sense to me. I just loved to write. I loved to journal and read. I was pretty shy as a kid, and can be still. So I was never a strong conversationalist – I would say that about myself now. But through writing and journaling I was able to express myself very well. I think songwriting was the way I was meant to speak.
9. A question you’d like to answer, but never been asked in an interview before?! + Answer pls
I’ve never been asked what my musical dream is – the answer is to be a Juno Award Winner and to be on Broadway.
I’ve also never been asked what I believe my greatest accomplishment is – the first is self producing and creating my music video for my song ‚The Vow‘ i truly believe it’s a masterpiece. I’m also most proud of my first composition – Egy Dal Apanak – it can be found on my debut album.
