1. Thank you very much for your time! Before we introduce your new release to our readers – what kind of drink would you recommend to sip on while they listen to your new music?
Haha that’s a great first question. I’d say a glass of wine in the house. Warm and cosy where you plan on listening to the lyrics and connecting with your emotions.
2. Please give us an update about – new single, new album, tour dates, new videos?!
The new single is called ‘How did we get to Midnight’ It’s a piano ballad about cherishing time with the people who mean the most to you. I have no plans for an album as of yet but an it is always something in the back of my mind for when the time is right. I’m playing my first UK and European tour in October this year which I can’t wait for!! Just myself with my acoustic guitar which I think showcases me in the most raw and direct way.
3. We live in times of many conspiracy theories. Which, harmless, theory would you wish were true? (For example Dinos living inside Earth or E.T. living in a home in California)
Michael Jackson is still alive and he’s gunna surprise us all with the ‘reincarnated tour’ in which he truly cement’s himself (if he hadn’t already) as the greatest artist that will ever live.
4. What fashion style or brand would best describe your music?
Well my aim is to make timeless songs. Songs that don’t just feel like they work in a certain time period or cultural moment. Relating that to fashion I’d have to say something staple that can work at any time. A good suit always work doesn’t it?
I’ve had a pair of dr marten shoes that I’ve been wearing for about 10 years now and they still feel as cool to me today as they did when I bought them
5. Tell us more about your songs! Topics! Message!?
The songs are always heartfelt and honest. I’m a normal lad from a humble working class background in Teesside and the topics reflect that. They’re easily digestible and to me anyway very clear what it is that I’m talking about. From personal situations I’ve been through or seen growing up in a Redcar, to my own experiences with love and relationships.
6. Besides music, do you have any special talents?
I love sports. I Played a lot of football growing up. I’m the type of person when I try a new sport I get hooked pretty quick and suddenly I’m looking online to buy equipment the next day! I think that’s because I feel a sense of improvement quite quickly when I try my hand at a new sport and therefore I get addicted. I love playing tennis, going to the gym and running. All things which are also really great for my mind.
7. Name 5 things we all should know about you as an artist?!
- Sincerty is objective with the music
- I’m looking to create connections to my fans through my music.
- Some days I’m the most confident artist on the planet and others I have no confidence at all in what I’m doing.
- I overthink things way too much
- My dreams as an artist are as a big as you can possibly imagine.
8. The road so far…. who or what was your biggest support??
I’d say in the 12 years that making music has been my profession, it would have to be my wife and parents. They’ve constantly been there for me throughout my career and when I’ve had moments where I’ve faltered, they’ve been the ones to reassure me of my talent. At times I’ve maybe gone in, sometimes I can go in on myself a little and as a result, it can become a bit of what I’ve jokingly called the ‘Jamie Show’ once I come out of it. I don’t mean to, I guess it’s just the way I am and the way I process my emotions. My wife and parents have always felt selfless in that way in that they just want to help as much as they can. I feel very fortunate to have them.
9. A question you’d like to answer, but never been asked in an interview before?! + Answer pls
I think I’d like to answer this question. If I had to pick just one element of being an artist that I love the most, what would it be?
My answer is, the feeling of writing a song that I absolutely love. The excitement I feel in that moment when I write something I’m super proud of is unexplainable! When we start recording it in the studio and I’m hearing it back! That is a feeling I wish I could bottle forever. I’ve been known to jump around the studio like a kid at Christmas because of how good something to me sounds!
