HAMILTON x THE ODYSSEY: WHEN TIME TELLS STORIES

As the „watchmaker to filmmakers,“ Hamilton has forged a unique relationship with cinema, integrating timepieces into storytelling in three distinct ways: through the on-screen placement of existing watches, the creation of custom designs for films, and the development of timepieces inspired by cinematic narratives and their worlds. Thanks to its long-standing Hollywood ties, only Hamilton could realize such an intensive collaboration with a filmmaker of Christopher Nolan’s caliber.

Hamilton and Christopher Nolan are teaming up once again, following previous collaborations on *Interstellar* (2014), *Tenet* (2020), and *Oppenheimer* (2023). This time, the partnership takes a new form. Inspired by Nolan’s new mythic action epic *The Odyssey* (coming to theaters July 16, 2026), the watch is not worn on screen; instead, it was created in collaboration with Nolan as a tribute to the story itself.

Set in a world that predates mechanical timekeeping, *The Odyssey* presented a unique creative challenge. Nolan worked with Hamilton to design a watch shaped by the symbols, materials, and mythology of this epic tale. The result is a strictly limited-edition creation that captures the narrative within its design.

Key sources of inspiration include the helmet and sword of Odysseus, the film’s central hero. Both elements define the dial and case back. Bronze was chosen as the defining material to reflect the weaponry and armor of the film’s setting—the Bronze Age—and to highlight the connection to ancient craftsmanship.

The brushed black dial features a bronze pattern inspired by the texture of the helmet; the 12 o’clock marker evokes a rivet on the sword scabbard. Bronze-colored, sword-shaped hands allude to Odysseus’s blade.
The 42mm bronze case is based on the Khaki Field Automatic design and features a circular finish. A brown grained leather strap with a distinctive center stitch completes the look. Crafted for comfort and durability, the case back is adorned with an image of Odysseus’s helmet and Christopher Nolan’s signature.

The watch comes with a replica of the Goddess Athena pin—a talisman given to Odysseus by his wife, Penelope, in the film. Designed to be worn as a brooch, this figure offers an additional piece of tangible cinematic history. The packaging features black and bronze tones and is complemented by a round metallic emblem, a commemorative plaque, and the pin inside.

Limited to 2,112 pieces, the edition holds symbolic significance rooted in Greek mythology: the number 12 plays a pivotal role and is omnipresent in Homer’s *Odyssey*—the epic comprises 12,000 verses; 12 ships were sent to Troy; and Odysseus must shoot an arrow through 12 axe heads to prove his identity.

With this collaboration, Hamilton further expands its close, collaborative relationship with the world of film. The Odyssey timepiece embodies a rare fusion of myth, cinema, and watchmaking—created for collectors who are equally passionate about craftsmanship and the art of storytelling.
