Come fly with me: MIDO Ocean Star Worldtimer

MIDO dresses the Ocean Star Worldtimer in a retro style, inviting you on grand journeys. Its strengths? A vintage charm inspired by a MIDO model from the 1970s—revealed by an emblematic dial with a black and red checkerboard pattern and the period MIDO logo—high-precision mechanics, and water resistance to 200 meters, the signature of the Ocean Star collection. Its unwaveringly reliable spirit of discovery is adorned with sublime historical details.

Since 1944, the Ocean Star collection has embodied the brand’s legendary expertise in water resistance. With the Aquadura system, MIDO pioneered the watch in 1930 and was dubbed the „King of Waterproof Watches“ in the 1980s. This unique expertise is impressively demonstrated here: the Ocean Star Worldtimer withstands even the most extreme pressures (200 m/20 bar) while offering optimal legibility. As part of the contemporary Ocean Star collection, this watch combines the tradition of excellence with functionality and the charm of the past. Its silver dial with a velvety finish is decorated with a black and red checkerboard pattern marking the time intervals and the MIDO logo of the time. It also features a „Glass Box“ sapphire crystal. All of these elements pay homage to the vintage aesthetic of the 1970s. Cutting-edge technology ensures absolutely reliable endurance: Super-LumiNova® for good legibility at night, and a case made of polished and satin-finished stainless steel. The collection’s iconic starfish is emblazoned on the screw-down case back. At its heart beats the Caliber 80, renowned for its precision thanks to its NivachronTM balance spring and boasting a power reserve of up to 80 hours—the ideal companion for today’s explorers.

Ready for any challenge

Designed for voyages of discovery, the Ocean Star Worldtimer features a checkerboard pattern on the dial with Seventies charm. The black, unidirectional rotating world-time bezel, featuring city names, invites you to adventure around the globe. White Super-LumiNova® on the notch in the center of the hour and minute hands and at the end of the seconds hand, as well as dots on the indices, allows for instant readability, even in the darkest conditions. The day and date display in a double window at 3 o’clock provides valuable information for globetrotters, and the „Glass Box“ sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on both sides guarantees optimal legibility.

With its black „Bund“ leather strap – a legacy of pilots of the past century – this Ocean Star Worldtimer is designed for versatility. This two-piece strap allows for various wearing styles: as a simple black leather strap with red stitching, or for a more sporty look with the base with white stitching.

The Excellence of Caliber 80

At the heart of this model beats the Caliber 80, a state-of-the-art Swiss automatic movement renowned for its robustness and reliability. Equipped with a high-tech Nivachron™ hairspring, it offers a power reserve of up to 80 hours and is remarkably resistant to shocks and magnetism. Though concealed by the screw-down case back, it is decorated with Côtes de Genève and engraved with the MIDO logo, combining cutting-edge technology with refined finishes.

With its checkerboard dial with vintage charm and a traveler’s bezel, the new Ocean Star Worldtimer invites you to explore, inspired by the adventurers of the 1970s.
