Inspired by the golden nights of Havana, the fragrance explores a bespoke interpretation of roasted tonka through two signatures associated with the city: the spirited warmth of rum and the smoky sensuality of tobacco leaves. True to the spirit of Night Veils, the story begins at the moment day gives way to night, when the senses heighten and familiar impressions take on new depth and intensity. Havana Tonka captures this passage through the city after dark: a warm, hypnotic world where rhythm fills intimate music clubs, rum glows in the glass and tobacco lingers in the air. At the heart of this nocturnal atmosphere, roasted tonka unfolds gradually, revealing its creamy, liquor-like and deeply sensual facets.
The campaign explores the passage into night, when sensations heighten and movement becomes ritual. Ingredients distort and transform between shadow and light, while saturated amber tones and layered reflections evoke the hazy atmosphere of Havana after dark.
Created by perfumer Jérôme Epinette, Havana Tonka is an ambery and tobacco composition that unfolds through contrast. Italian bergamot and pink peppercorn bring brightness to the opening, while rum reveals a sweet, dried-fruit character wrapped in the creamy indulgence of crème brûlée.
At its heart, tobacco leaves meet violet, cashmere wood and white suede, evoking the intimacy of Havana’s live music clubs after dark. Roasted tonka bean absolute emerges at the base, deepened by patchouli and benzoin before melting into soft skin musks.
Photographed by Thibaut Grevet, the imagery draws on his expressive use of light, colour and movement to translate the fragrance into a sensorial visual experience. The bottle remains at the centre, embodying the extrait’s concentration and richness.
The Night Veils bottle is distinguished by its elongated silhouette and architectural glass base. An antique gold cap complements the deep amber hue of the fragrance, while the signature silver and gold atomiser brings a contemporary accent.
Presented in a 70ml extrait de parfum, Havana Tonka joins Vanille Antique, Casablanca Lily, Cuir Sellier, Rouge Chaotique and Bois Obscur within BYREDO’s Night Veils collection, first introduced in 2015, continuing its exploration of emblematic ingredients through highly concentrated perfumery.
