EMILE – „Pale Imitation“ + Exclusive Interview

1. Hello, thank you for your time, please introduce yourself in a few words!

Thanks for having me! I’m Emile, a 23 year old indie-pop artist from London.

2. Please give us an update about – new single, new album, tourdates, new videos?!

My third single Pale Imitation just came out, and I’m really proud of it! The live situation is a little uncertain at the moment because of the pandemic, and I had some shows lined up that unfortunately had to be cancelled. With that said, me and my drummer are getting ready to jump out of lockdown with a great live set.

3. Name 5 things we all should know about you as an artist?!

I write the majority of my songs in the middle of the night or early hours of the morning, more often than not in my very echoey bathroom.

I grew up on Led Zeppelin. Me and my best friend Archie used to spend hours pretending to be Jimmy Page in-front of the mirror when we were little.

I’m from a family of actors, and a small part of me dreams of pulling a Jared Leto one day.

I’ve grown up playing in hardcore-punk bands and have toured across Europe a few times behind a guitar (shouting isn’t my forte).

My Dad is Danish and I’ve spent about a third of my life in Copenhagen, which has turned me into the personification of an identity crisis.

4. What can we expect 2020 from you?

More songs! I’m working on the next single with my incredible producer Flo Reutter who lives in Berlin. Coronavirus has made things a little difficult for us logistically since we’ve gotten so used to working in the same room, but we’re making the best of our long-distance relationship and have a really lovely tune in the works. Other than that I’ve got some massively cool announcements coming up on my socials involving live streams!

5. Do you have bad habits? A guilty pleasure you cant seem to quit?

I’m unfortunately a smoker, so that would definitely be my worst habit. Luckily it’s becoming more and more of a guilty pleasure and I hope to have shaken them by 2021.

6. Beside music, do you have any special talents?

I love to draw! My primary medium is adult coloring books (my number one museum gift shop purchase).

7. Being on stage feels like….!

Jumping into cold water – initially uncomfortable, until your body warms up and getting out again feels like the worst idea in the world.

8. Must Have – and No-Go in your Wardrobe! – Favorite Fashion Brand and Fragrance?

I’ve got a bit of a cap obsession, my favourite at the moment is an Idioma six-panel one that I bought at their pop-up in Brick Lane!

My no-go is definitely a bright green Bavarian waistcoat that I bought in Berlin, I have no idea what I was thinking at the time, it makes me look like I’m leading the horn section in a Sergeant Pepper’s tribute act.

My favourite brands are my favourite bands!
