Since it first launched in 2008, the Averin Chronograph has made a name for itself by virtue of its square case and unique dial design. UNION GLASHÜTTE looks back on a long tradition within motorsport and channels this expertise into the unique design of the Averin Chronograph. True to this tradition, the brand now presents two new models in square cases: One with a blue dial, one with a black dial. The new design is pared back, highlighting the clean lines and shapes. The dial features an embossed tiled effect that adds real depth to the design. What makes the Averin Chronograph so distinctive is its square shape, which at 41 x 41 millimetres is perfectly proportioned to the wearer’s wrist. The modern styling is further heightened by a sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on both faces, which curves into every corner to create an optical illusion of depth.
The date display and chronograph function are housed in a square ring that echoes the domed shape of the case. The small second is shown at 9 o’clock, the minute counter is at 3 o’clock while the date is positioned at 6 o’clock. The new model retains the iconic look of its predecessor, but reduced to the essentials. Special details include the red lacquered chronograph hands for ease of reading, the hands and indices with polished and matt sides for optimum visibility and the Super-LumiNova® coating on the minute hands and hour hands.
The blue model is complemented by a colour-coordinated leather strap with racing holes and a red back to round off the design in style. The second model, on the other hand, is completely black. A black date display, matt black rings around the totalisers, a matt black DLC-coated case and a double fold fastener all contribute to the chronograph’s striking style. The textile strap, which is also black, echoes the tile design of the dial.
At the heart of the watch beats the UNG-27.S2 mechanical movement with its silicon balance spring and a power reserve of at least 65 hours. The Averin Chronograph is available at a recommended retail price of €3300 for the blue model and €3500 for the black model.
