1. Thank you very much for your time! Before we introduce your new release to our readers – what kind of drink would you recommend to sip on while they listen to your new music?
Hello everyone! Haha! I suppose a nice bourbon would fit the vibe, but if you’re like me it’s going to have to be a nice cold German Hefeweizen. Franziskaner if possible…
2. Please give us an update about – new single, new album, tour dates, new videos?!
Well, Lovehearts & The Cold Side of the Bed just came out. Apart from that, it’s a lot of stuff in the pipeline. I’ve been in the studio working on album tracks recently. Discussions are being had about tours but nothing concrete to give you just yet, sorry!
3. We live in times of many conspiracy theories. Which, harmless, theory would you wish were true? (For example Dinos living inside Earth or E.T. living in a home in California)
Hah! That’s an interesting one! I must say as a teenager I loved a good conspiracy theory. All taken with a huge pinch of salt of course. I’ve always been fascinated by the concept of aliens and UFOs. I’d love for that to be true in some way, but only if the aliens were friendly!
4. What fashion style or brand would best describe your music?
I’ve always described my own style as 1970s Italian-American gangster cowboy. I think this aesthetic would suit my music too! A bit country, a bit of Motown soul in there, Chicago Blues. A bit of Frank Sinatra and all that stuff too…
5. Tell us more about your songs! Topics! Message!?
I never really start writing with messages intended. Sometimes they become clear afterwards when everything’s settled down. I would like to write something with more of a clear message but maybe I just don’t have anything to say yet. Or I’m out of touch! Most of my songs are inspired by personal experience so I suppose the topics are there for all to see, or hear. I find sometimes getting too hung up on meaning can make the writing process pretty hard, you can quite easily start to overthink and over cook stuff.
6. Beside music, do you have any special talents?
I’m wracking my brain for something… nothing really comes to mind haha! I’ve been playing music for as long as I can remember. It’s always been the thing I wanted to do, the big dream. I’ve never really devoted enough time to anything else to become talented in it! I’m an okay cook? Pretty good at walking. Oh and I’m excellent at manoeuvring large vehicles in tight spaces and driving horribly long distances. Maybe I was a truck driver in another life.
7. Name 5 things we all should know about you as an artist?!
That’s a tough one! I’m very committed to my art; it’s about the only thing I take seriously. I like to keep everything analogue, recording to tape, even using film cameras for press shots. I don’t write for any reason apart from the need to do it, almost like a compulsion. I’ve been writing songs since I was around 12 years old. As an artist I can’t stand terrible art!
8. The road so far…. who or what was your biggest support??
As in who is the biggest act I’ve shared a stage with? I’d say most recently I opened up for Cristone “Kingfish” Ingram who if you don’t know, is an American Blues musician from Mississippi and he’s pretty famous. I had the pleasure of meeting him before the show! I also opened up for Damian Lewis the famous actor a few years back when he made a record at the same studio as me. I also had the pleasure of hanging out with him backstage which was surreal, I’m a big fan of Band of Brothers and Homeland!
9. A question you’d like to answer, but never been asked in an interview before?! + Answer pls
Ah so many ha! Okay, Question – What was the best show you’ve ever done, also the worst and the weirdest?
Answer – Best show ever has to be playing drums for my old band Holy Moly and the Crackers. A big festival in Czechia called Colours Of Ostrava. Huge crowd totally unexpected, a truly magical night.
Worst show was probably back as a teenager with my band, we arrived, soundchecked and got ready. No one showed up so we packed up and went home!
Weirdest has to be an afternoon show in the middle of nowhere in the Dutch countryside at a Mealworm farm. We had a tour of the worm farm before playing in a barn. It was very strange but kind of fun!
