Thinking MU presents Natural Dyes, a workwear-inspired capsule collection that focuses on natural dyeing processes and reflects a way of working based on respect for materials, the environment, and craftsmanship.
The pieces in the Natural Dyes capsule collection were dyed with natural pigments, based on processes developed in close collaboration with workshops in Auroville, an international community in South India known for its conscious approach to labor and its deeply rooted artisanal tradition.
At the heart of the development process is a fundamental exploration of the behavior of color. Dyeing already manufactured fabrics with natural pigments often results in visible, difficult-to-control irregularities, a outcome that does not align with Thinking MU’s design philosophy. In response, the design team opted for a crucial shift in perspective, focusing on dyeing the yarn rather than the finished fabric, particularly in the realm of denim.
Denim follows a specific construction in which the warp threads are dyed, while the weft threads remain natural. This principle allows the characteristic nuances of natural dyes to be integrated more harmoniously into the fabric, resulting in a clearer, more consistent appearance. At the same time, this approach reduces resource consumption, as only a portion of the yarn is dyed, thus lowering the use of dyes and water without compromising the finish.

Following the dyeing of the yarns, the weaving process, cutting, and garment construction take place at Thinking MU’s GOTS-certified production facility in India, ensuring social and environmental standards throughout the entire value chain.
Natural Dyes is the result of a dialogue between traditional craftsmanship, technological advancement, and a contemporary design approach. It’s a capsule collection that unites conscious work, aesthetic precision, and a responsible approach to resources, while preserving the longevity and coherence of each individual garment.
With this collection, Thinking MU continues its consistent path, because innovation here begins not with the finish, but with the raw materials.

For years, the brand has been working to integrate organic fibers from renewable natural resources, which are generally biodegradable. The goal is not only to reduce the ecological footprint but also to promote cultivation methods that contribute to environmental regeneration. These include organic cotton, which is grown without pesticides or synthetic fertilizers and requires significantly less water, as well as hemp, a fiber that uses little water, binds large amounts of CO2, improves the soil, and can be fully utilized without generating waste.
This approach is complemented by the ongoing research into innovative materials such as algae fibers or natural pigments from flowers, which open up new perspectives for alternative processes and textile developments.
Natural Dyes is thus part of a broader strategy in which technological innovation, responsible material selection, and precise process control seamlessly integrate.
