The LONGINES PILOT MAJETEK is dressed in titanium

With the launch of the LONGINES PILOT MAJETEK last year, the brand with the winged hourglass signaled the return of a pilot’s watch with a distinctive design. In 2024, the LONGINES PILOT MAJETEK PIONEER EDITION will be presented in dark gray and black in a grade 5 titanium version, limited to 1935 pieces and certified as a chronometer by the COSC (Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres). This watch follows the tradition of Longines precision instruments worn by the greatest pioneers during their legendary exploits.

On April 1, 1935, Longines registered the Pilot Majetek with the International Office for Industrial Property in Bern. The model, originally intended for aviation, gradually conquered a wider audience looking for a reliable, robust and precise watch. Almost 90 years later, the brand revived this unique pilot’s watch in 2023, with new technical and ergonomic features.

This year the collection is being expanded to include a special series made of grade 5 titanium – an alloy that is not only lighter but also more durable than steel. The Longines Pilot Majetek Pioneer Edition is limited to 1935 pieces based on the year it was created. Staying true to its predecessors and original character, this highly functional watch features a fluted, bidirectional rotating bezel on its cushion-shaped case.

On the outer edge of the 43 mm Grade 5 titanium case at 9 o’clock there is a commemorative plaque engraved with „1935“, which conceals an innovative mechanism. It ensures the water resistance of the system up to 10 bar (100 m) from the grooved rotating bezel on the outside, which is coupled with the fluorescent, movable triangle marking on the inside. This so-called “Starting Time Indicator” is located under the sapphire crystal, from which it is detached, and above the dial. In the historical model from 1935, the bezel and crystal rotated as a unit with markings. Today the sapphire crystal is fixed and contributes to the water resistance of the case.

The Longines Pilot Majetek Pioneer Edition combines striking design with cutting-edge technology and is powered by the exclusive Longines caliber L893.6. This movement, equipped with a silicon hairspring and other innovative components, offers a magnetic resistance that exceeds the requirements of the ISO 674 standard by more than ten times and a power reserve of up to 72 hours. The entire watch is certified as a chronometer by the COSC (Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres), an independent control body. With this certification, the finished watch – case and functioning movement – is tested continuously for 15 consecutive days.

The complete clock is included in this Subjected to a series of functional tests in different positions and three temperature levels to ensure their accuracy. This new model features a grained matte black dial. Arabic numerals – embossed and coated with gray Super-LumiNova® that has a bluish shimmer in the dark – indicate the hours and are bordered by a railway minute scale. Stick hands, which are also coated with gray Super-LumiNova® with a bluish shimmer, glide across them.

The small seconds at 6 o’clock, which is embedded extensively in the dial, together with the fluted bezel, underlines the original and functional character of this pilot’s watch. The Longines Pilot Majetek Pioneer Edition is equipped with a black technical fabric strap. The limited edition is presented in special heritage packaging in the same color.
