THE IRREPRESSIBLES SHARE THE MUSIC VIDEO FOR ‘SWEET & UNIQUE!’

The Irrepressibles, the visionary project of Jamie Irrepressible, whose music has amassed 450M+ Spotify streams, alongside a worldwide audience of over 4M monthly listeners – return with a radiant new single ‘Sweet & Unique’.

Not shy to be up front about his homosexuality Jamie Irrepressible has made his raison d’etre to make music for the queers. This single is no exception. A playful yet sensual ode to individuality and desire, ‘Sweet & Unique’ is a rhythm‑and‑blues‑driven summer bop that runs 1960s R&B through glam‑rock swag with Bolan-esque gospel choir moments and iconic string lines lifting the Manchester vibes to the sky.

The single features The Irrepressibles longtime violinist Elliot Lyte moving onto vocals. Through sessions in the studio Jamie noticed Elliot’s incredible voice and thought what a great opportunity to duet with him on a song about homosexual desire utilising Eliot’s beautiful and naturally soulful voice.

The music video was shot in Los Angeles and directed by Samuel McGuire and features an all-queer cast translating the track’s tension between flirtation and assertion into movement and onscreen connection. Set against the heat and sprawl of LA, the clip leans into on screen chemistry between the lovers without losing the song’s humour and lightness of touch.

Jamie Irrepressible says: „I always love to see a directors take on one of my tracks, it’s like a day in the life of the gays in Los Angeles, a bit of fun! and why not hey.“

Director Samuel McGuire: „For the music video I really liked the idea of two couples trekking across town during a hot day to get to the beach. Wanted to use the hot, sticky summer days to create those sexual innuendos and tension as well as just showing how the summer sun makes us all go a bit silly. As the couple meets up, I wanted them to encounter people along the way who were in the same boat, pent up, getting out, and being fierce. On their walk thought it would be great if everyone they encountered were gay, and it made for a fabulous trip. Then the prize at the end was a sunset dip and the end to a beautiful evening to accompany a beautiful song.“

‘Sweet & Unique’ is a slice of fun indie pop at the end of Jamie Irrepressibles 4th critically acclaimed album, the punk symphonic – ‚Yo Homo!“ Originally released in 2024, with a deluxe version in 2025, “Yo Homo!” ushered in a bold new chapter: visceral, sexually candid, emotionally raw, and sonically adventurous. The record merges punk energy, orchestral beauty, and queer liberation into an electrifying sound world described by The Guardian as “desire paired with alt-rock swagger.”

The timing of ‘Sweet & Unique’ also connects directly to Jamie’s passion project TRUE PRIDE, a new queer‑curated arts and music festival taking place at Hidden, Manchester on Saturday 1 August of which he is one of the curators. Born from the minds of a group of Lesbian, Trans, and Gay friends, the festival is exclusively Queer from the artists on the DJ playlists to the Artists, films, and speakers booked to appear. The Irrepressibles will perform as part of a line‑up alongside international artists PlanningtoRock, jasmine.4.t, and The Hidden Cameras amongst a whole host of local and UK talent made up entirely of queer artists, with Jamie also appearing for a PA/DJ set that draws from his collaborative work. TRUE PRIDE centres queer voices — across live bands, DJs, talks, film, comedy and wellness — and positions itself as a space for queer audiences to see their own culture driving the bill, rather than sitting on the margins.
