Porsche Design is launching an exclusive limited eyewear collection to mark the 50th anniversary of the sports car icon. The special collection, created in collaboration with De Rigo, includes two distinctive sunglasses models, both of which embody the heritage and performance of the Porsche 911 Turbo.
The Turbo No. 1 sunglasses incorporate the original gray paintwork and the legendary red checkered pattern of the vehicle interior into its design. With a gray frame, red holder and temple ends, the model symbolizes heritage and dynamism and stands for technical precision and timeless elegance.
The Turbonite model is finished in a gray metallic tone that was specially developed to match the monochrome Porsche crest of the Turbo vehicles. The unisex sunglasses in a square aviator shape are made of lightweight titanium. With this unique and sporty color, the special edition has a modern and monochrome aesthetic.
The two models are limited to 1,974 examples each – symbolic of the year in which the first Porsche 911 Turbo was unveiled 50 years ago. The unique sunglasses are available for 530 euros in Porsche Design stores and on porsche-design.com as well as from selected opticians. The lenses of both models can be exchanged for alternative lenses thanks to the quick-change mechanism.
