DONSKOY – ‘MIDDLEMAN’ + Exclusive Interview

1.Thank you very much for your time! Before we introduce your new release to our readers – what kind of drink would you recommend to zip on while they listen to your new music?

I’d personally be sipping on a Vodka Martin, extra dirty, no vermouth, So I’d recommend just that 🙂

2. Please give us an update about the new single, album, tour dates, or videos!

The last 12 Months have been a real rollercoaster ride. From my Stage Premier in the U.S. playing Wladislaw Spielmann in the first stage version of THE PIANIST to leading a new historical series for DISNEY + whilst trying to focus on Songwriting and recording all the new songs, I often didn’t know which city I was in when waking up in the mornings.

Since the beginning of August, I have been back home in London and have been focusing on my music. I finally released my first single in nearly three years, SIPPIN, followed by MIDDLEMAN a couple of days ago. Being reunited with the music side of things fills me with so much inspiration and joy, and I can’t wait to keep releasing singles and go back to playing live in 2025.

3. We live in times of many conspiracy theories. Which, harmless, theory would you wish were true? (For example, Dinos living inside Earth or E.T. living in a home in California)

To be very honest, I don’t closely follow the array of conspiracy theories since I honestly believe that the amount of fake news and misinformation is one of the most worrying things in modern times. But how about I come up with a great one?

Did you know that ginger people secretly control the planet? Days like Ginger Day, which happens once a year in the Netherlands, are secret meetings to plot the fate of planet Earth and its inhabitants. Pretty solid, no?

4. What fashion style or brand would best describe your music?

I’d say it’s a mix of something elegant like Bottega Veneta and something more urban like Off-White. I love to mix and match in fashion and when I’m working on my music. Being flexible and open to new inspiration is the way to go for me in all aspects of life.

5. Tell us more about your songs! Topics! Message!?

The first single, SIPPIN, was all about succumbing to the fact that the thing or person you’re addicted to pulls you in repeatedly, and whilst you know that you shouldn’t, you keep coming

Back  for more.

Middleman has a more sombre tone. While on the surface, it’s a happy song that you can dance to, it does have a deeper meaning.

I’ll try to explain: Imagine you constantly find yourself in the midst of completely opposing political or cultural views, and time and time again, you are the one who tries to find the middle ground—the one who builds bridges and tries to calm the fronts. The one whose opinion is often overlooked cause you don’tt scream it as loud as the others.  And at some point, you become tired of it. Tired of always thinking of the others – exhausted. You don’t want to be the keeper of the middle ground anymore and decide to become the middleman – the one who isn’t caught in the middle but who has learnt to tiptoe along a tightrope. But this time, it’s his choice.“ I might get blood on my shoes, but I’m not to blame“ is one of the lines and sums the meaning up pretty well.

I want my songs to entertain, but at times make the listener stop and think for a second.

6. Beside music, do you have any special talents?

I have an exceptional talent for losing all of my belongings. Honestly, a week doesn’t pass without me trying to locate wallets, phones, or keys – I’d even call it a superpower 🙂

7. Name 5 things we all should know about you as an artist?!

1,I’m a sensitive soul who needs a lot of love and is very susceptible to the energies around me. I think that has a big influence on my creative process. Every song, every line, and every take is heavily influenced by what is around me and where I am with my soul. It is sometimes hard to manage all these feelings at once, but it’s my primary motor to create.

2.I feel most in tune with my creative inner soul when I’m on stage performing my songs to a live audience

3.I am my harshest critic, and I’m trying to work on that. At times, it’s a great motivation, but other times, it becomes almost unbearable to try to satisfy myself.

4. I have an intense love affair with peanut butter

5. Let me keep some secrets 🙂

8. The road so far…. who or what was your biggest support??

My family. Even though they worried at the beginning of my career that I’d chosen the wrong path and, in the beginning, weren’t a great support in terms of the arts, they were there for me on a human level. In all other aspects, they always had my back and always will. That is priceless.

9. A question you’d like to answer, but never been asked in an interview before?! + Answer pls

I’ve never been asked if there were any off-limits subjects that I wished to explore in my songs but haven’t?“

Yes! Sexual insecurity. Everyone writes about sex, but barely anyone talks about the times they’ve felt awkward or not good enough. What’s up with that? It’s just part of being human. But maybe it’s also not a great topic for a song. Next time I sit down to write something, I’ll try to explore that and keep you posted:

UHHHH.. I didn’t come, and neither did you ( followed by a big drum fill ) And now everybody:

UHHHH.. I DIDN’T COME AND NEITHER DID YOU

Ok, im stopping now.
