POM – „Enlightened, baby“ + Exclusive Interview

1. Thank you very much for your time! Before we introduce your new release to our readers – what kind of drink would you recommend to sip on while they listen to your new music?

A caipirinha!

2. Please give us an update about – new single, new album, tour dates, new videos?!

Album: We just released our new album: Enlightened, baby. It is an album that we made in quite a short period and mostly ourselves, as our guitarist Luc also worked as the producer and engineer. We decided to add more electronic influences and play more with vocals through big choirs, made up of our friends. The album describes themes around grief and mocking oneself for believing they were enlightened and had already learned all the lessons life had to offer. A lot of songs are about other people and the lessons that you can learn from their experiences.

Tour: We are still playing some shows in the Netherlands, these are:

June 5 – Utrecht – Ekko

June 11 – Nijmegen – Merleyn

June 12 – Rotterdam – Rotown

June 19 – Eindhoven – Effenaar

Lovers video clip: For this album, we made our first video clip for the first single LOVERS. The plan was created by Luc and Kiki, our guitarists, in collaboration with, and carried out by, a bunch of friends who are filmmakers. The video was filmed in Amsterdam, and our singer Liza had to drive in a four-gear old timer without power-assisted steering for the first time, while also lip-syncing for the video.

3. Name 5 things we all should know about you as a band?!

1: Our drummer is a social worker who mostly works with people who are homeless, and our singer is almost done with her clinical psychology and psychology research master’s.

2: Four out of five of our members are in a relationship, making one of us a double third wheel

3: All of us listen to different music, ranging from punk/metal/emo, to hip-hop and R&B, to folk, or classic pop music

4: We have a new guitarist, her name is Kiki

5: Most of us are also in different bands or other musical projects. Michael (our bassist) plays in Frank Arnold, Dog Person, girlhead, and Rolodex; Kiki (our guitarist) plays in C’est qui?; Justin (our drummer) plays in Taday; and Luc (our other guitarist) is a producer/engineer and does front of house for other bands

4. What fashion style or brand would best describe your music?

bubblegum couture

5. We live in times of many conspiracy theories. Which, harmless, theory would you wish were true?(For example Dinos living inside Earth or E.T. living in a home in California)

Stevie Wonder can see. That wouldn’t only be great for him, but also kind of funny if he has been lying and keeping it up for all these years.

6. If you could change anything about the industry, what would it be?

I think that we sometimes forget how beautiful it is to make and listen to music, and that the industry is there because of the musicians, big and small.

7. Tell us more about your songs! Topics! Message!?

Some of the songs aren’t singles, and therefore, we haven’t told people their meaning yet. One of these is The Greatest Of Them All, which is the final track of the album. It is a song about the twisted idea that once someone is finally happy, rested, and has lived through life’s hardest lessons, they will die. Another song, the snow, is about how not sharing your sadness with a friend created a barrier between the two of you, and therefore, you drifted apart. Liza, our singer, mostly wants people to take their own lessons and ideas from the songs, as they can have so many meanings, and it is beautiful if someone relates to a song based on their own interpretation.

8. A question you’d like to answer, but never been asked in an interview before?! + Answer pls

Luc wanted to be asked what his favourite backstage drink is. He said it is a Jenever with Fanta. Liza’s favourite backstage drink is a Jenever with Redbull. The rest like everything, but we are all big Jenever fans, it is also on our rider!
