Pearl Does Country – new EP „Pearl Does Country“ + Exclusive Interview

Thank you very much for your time! Before we introduce your new release to our readers – what kind of drink would you recommend to sip on while they listen to your new music?

It’s a Jack and coke kinda sound for sure. Smooth on the surface, classic, but it leaves a kick. That’s the vibe

Please give us an update about – new single, new album, tour dates, new videos?!

My new EPPearl Does Country dropped this month! It’s a five-track project that takes you on a rollercoaster of emotions, with heartbreak anthems like The Day You Don’t Love Me to my Honk-Tonk fantasy track Boys In The Barn, ultimately landing on something empowering and unapologetically authentic. The lead single, He’s The Devil, comes with its own music video. A spicy, queer twist on ‘90s bro country. You can stream the EP on all major platforms and watch the video on YouTube.

We live in times of many conspiracy theories. Which, harmless, theory would you wish were true? (For example Dinos living inside Earth or E.T. living in a home in California)

I actually have a merman tattoo on my right arm, so I’ve always been fascinated by the mystery of Cornish mermaid and siren legends. I’d love to believe they’re real, just out there somewhere, keeping to themselves. Honestly, I’m half-convinced I was a merman in a past life… it would explain a lot.

What fashion style or brand would best describe your music?

I’d say Wrangler. It’s completely synonymous with country music and classic cowboy culture, timeless, a little rugged, and effortlessly cool. There’s something about a pair of Wrangler jeans on a man that just works… it’s kind of universally hot. And then add some fringe into the mix, which I’m completely obsessed with, and you’ve got that perfect blend of tradition and theatrical drama that really matches my sound.

Tell us more about your songs! Topics! Message!?

My songs are rooted in storytelling and honesty. Country music hasn’t always been the most inclusive space for marginalised communities, especially LGBTQ+ voices, so my work is really about carving out space for those stories. As a queer man, I’m writing from my own life and experiences, and everything comes from a real, personal place. At the heart of it, I want to build a sense of community through my music. Something inclusive where people feel seen, heard, and loved. Whether you relate to the specifics or not, the emotion is universal, and that’s what I want to connect through.

Beside music, do you have any special talents?

Before focusing fully on music, I trained in musical theatre when I was younger (I know, a queer man in theatre, “groundbreaking”), so I have a background in both dance and acting. That’s had a huge impact on how I perform today. It’s really shaped my stage presence and confidence. As a country artist, storytelling is everything, and that training helps me bring the songs to life in a more physical and emotional way when I’m on stage.

Name 5 things we all should know about you as an artist?!

1, I genuinely love meeting and connecting with people who listen to my music. Community means everything to me.

2, I live and breathe this industry. I’m writing, rehearsing, performing, or reaching out to collaborators pretty much 24/7 because I know this is exactly what I’m meant to do.

3, I’ll be performing on Pride main stages across the UK this summer, so keep an eye out. I’m bringing a lot of energy to those shows.

4, Using my platform to champion marginalised voices is a huge priority for me. My song Y’all Means All, for example, is a love letter to my trans siblings.

5, I’m always pushing myself creatively. I never want to stand still, and I’m constantly looking for new ways to evolve my sound and my world as an artist.

The road so far…. who or what was your biggest support??

I’m really lucky to have an incredible group of friends around me who’ve supported my music from the very beginning. They show up to the gigs, hype me up, and I’ve even had them involved as support acts, models, and backing dancers whenever I can. It’s my way of giving that love back. I’ve affectionately named them myPearlGurls. I love you PearlGurls! But at the heart of it all, my mum is my number one fan. Her support is completely unwavering. She’s the kind of person who’ll shout my name from the rooftops and have my music blasting on repeat… whether the neighbours like it or not. At this point, they probably know all the words to my own songs better than I do.

A question you’d like to answer, but never been asked in an interview before?! + Answer pls.

I think it would have to be something people wouldn’t necessarily know about me unless they knew me personally like, what’s something completely random that you’re weirdly passionate about? Well, I’m a massive nerd. I loveStar Wars, like, fully invested in the lore. I even cried in public when I heard Carrie Fisher had passed away. RIP my Princess. I’m really into Dungeons & Dragons as well. I just finished a two-year campaign. I love anything that lets you escape into a different world and tell stories in a bigger, more imaginative way. It’s probably not that far off from what I do with my music, just with a few more lightsabers and dragons thrown in.
