Montblanc presents “Postcards from Italy”, a short film directed by Roman Coppola that celebrates the luxury of slowing down and finding joy in writing. The project continues the director’s long-standing collaboration with Montblanc following his “Happy Holidays” short film, and the “100 Years of Meisterstück” and “Let’s Write” short films where Coppola acted as a co-director to long-time collaborator Wes Anderson.

Filmed at Palazzo Margherita, the Coppola family’s restored 19th-century residence in southern Italy, the short film features actors and friends of the brand Daniel Brühl, Kiernan Shipka, Cooper Koch, and Dree Hemingway as a group of friends spending a leisurely summer together. The film unfolds like a collection of postcards kept long after the journey itself has come to an end, capturing impressions from long lunches that stretch into the afternoon, restful moments enjoyed lounging in the shade, and evenings spent talking as the light of day fades.

In their moments of leisure, the friend group is moved to write. From careful composing at a desk to carefree doodling by the pool, the short film echoes Montblanc’s “Let’s Write” brand narrative as it captures the simple joy of putting pen to paper we are drawn to in moments of pause, whether to immortalise a shared moment or to simply enjoy its tactility.

“When I think back on this film, I think of the enjoyable time we had while creating it. It was my pleasure to welcome the cast to a location that holds such deep personal meaning for me, and together, we explored, improvised, and simply enjoyed ourselves and the environment around us,” said Roman Coppola. “The goal was to celebrate the pleasures of writing and the small moments that inspire us to put pen to paper. Nothing was staged: these were real moments we documented, reflecting the intimacy of shared experiences in a beautiful part of the world.”

Throughout the film, Montblanc pieces accompany the friend group during their explorations. The iconic Meisterstück writing instrument features in classic black and its new white and burgundy red colourways. Montblanc Spring/Summer 2026 leather goods in the spotlight include the Montblanc Envelope Clutch, Montblanc Envelope Tote, and Montblanc Envelope Backpack in the suede leather finish, while the #MY4810 Trolley appears in a velvet green sfumato shade on Montblanc’s corteccia leather. The Montblanc Panorama Tote and Montblanc Panorama Weekender shapes are introduced in a contemporary printed denim finish, and in a new, lightweight technical fabric particularly suited for effortless travel.

Alongside Coppola’s short film, Montblanc’s “Postcards from Italy” digital campaign includes a series of visuals by photographers Yago Castromil and Gundolf Pfotenhauer.
