Magical love scent on Valentine’s Day! – „Carioca Heart“ – Jusbox

Bossa Nova emerged in Rio de Janeiro in the late 1950s, driven by musicians, singers, composers and poets who sought to rejuvenate Brazilian music and culture. The story of bossa nova unfolds in Beco das Garrafas, a small street in Copacabana where young cariocas gathered until dawn to celebrate the new sounds. It was a fusion of underlying samba, traditional Brazilian rhythms, American jazz and innovative Portuguese lyrics.

João Gilberto’s warm and simple vocal style, his syncopated guitar picking and Tom Jobim’s sophisticated harmonies and minimalist arrangements distinguished the bossa nova from the traditional samba cançoes. The genre not only changed music, but also became a way of life and an integral part of Brazilian culture.

It harmoniously combines the exuberant joy of samba with the profound sophistication of jazz and embodies the unmistakable Brazilian way of life: a mixture of positivity, charisma and happiness, combined with a deep feeling of romance and nostalgia.

In Carioca Heart, Julien Rasquinet captures the euphoric essence of bossa nova with zesty and bright notes of lemon, pineapple and mango chords. This vibrant energy flows into a romantic ambience with a heart of peony, rum absolute and sandalwood. Vanilla, labdanum, operanid and ambroxan form an underlying harmony that highlights jazz-inspired sophistication and a touch of saudade (a feeling of longing and melancholy).
