Thank you very much for your time! Before we introduce your new release to our readers – what kind of drink would you recommend to sip on while they listen to your new music?
I recommend that listeners get cozy and drink a warm glass of hot chocolate/any warm drink that brings them comfort.
Please give us an update about – new single, new album, tour dates, new videos?!
Currently I’m just playing shows around Montreal in bars and cafes, but I’ve got a few singles in the works + a possible EP, though I’m not able to share much about that yet. I’m gonna start teasing my next single soon.
We live in times of many conspiracy theories. Which, harmless, theory would you wish were true? (For example Dinos living inside Earth or E.T. living in a home in California)
This is a great question, but a really tough one to answer. I’m not sure how big of a conspiracy this is in our society, but I wish that people with superpowers would really exist so we could have real-life superheroes. I mean, there’s gotta be one person out there with a rare special ability, considering how many people there are in the world and all the different genetics and genetic mutations that are possible.
What fashion style or brand would best describe your music?
I actually work part-time in a clothing store, and it’s a small boutique with very soft, natural materials and a light colour scheme, which I feel is the perfect way to describe my music: soft and light.
Tell us more about your songs! Topics! Message!?
My songs are mostly pretty melancholic, vulnerable, and very true to myself. I use songwriting as a coping method, so they all tend to follow themes like heartbreak, sadness, and harsh truths. As unfortunate as it is, it makes the music very real and relatable, and I always love a good sad song. It feels so natural to develop a sad feeling musically, because it’s one of the most intense feelings that comes right from this place deep in your gut. I feel like it writes itself.
Besides music, do you have any special talents?
While music is definitely the most developed skill that I pour most of my time into, I love to embroider and do a little beadwork from time to time.
Name 5 things we all should know about you as an artist?!
I started vocal lessons at the age of 9 and have continued them since (I am now turning 21).
I wrote my first song at 11 years old, an alternative birthday song which will never see the light of day.
I love writing my songs in open tunings, especially open D.
I’m most inspired by Phoebe Bridgers and Lizzy McAlpine
I currently make all of my music with my dad, who helps manage my career and produce my songs
The road so far…. who or what was your biggest support??
My parents, who are both musicians, are my biggest support. Since a very young age, I was already in piano, voice, and guitar lessons. I’ve always been encouraged by both of them to pursue the life I want in music, which I’m really grateful for since it can be rare for parents to get behind that kind of thing when the road ahead is uncertain. My dad, especially, has been the one managing me since the start of my career, producing my music, giving me tips/ideas on my songs, and generally supporting me in every single aspect of becoming a serious musician.
A question you’d like to answer, but never been asked in an interview before?! + Answer pls
I’d love to be asked about my curly hair routine, because I put so much effort into that every single time I wash my hair. I used to be insane and spend 3 hours coiling every strand, but now what I do is use a curl cream from Strictly Curls and brush my hair in sections using a curl brush. I brush the top of my hair forward so that when I get to that part, I get a lot of volume on top. After that, I scrunch a bunch of mousse from the same company into my hair, then I diffuse it for about 10 minutes. I cut down my 3-hour routine to about 30 minutes, which is much more convenient. I sleep with a bonnet at night so the curls survive the night, and I gotta violently shake them every morning like I’m headbanging at a rock concert to bring them to life again. I love my hair, though. I find it very relaxing to style it, I love my curls, and I haven’t gone out with straightened hair in almost 10 years.
