1. Thank you very much for your time! Before we introduce your new release to our readers – what kind of drink would you recommend to sip on while they listen to your new music?

If you drink alcohol, a fun rosé sparkling wine, if you don’t, ceremonial grade matcha. Obviously!

2. Please give us an update about – new single, new album, tour dates, new videos?!

We haven’t stopped working since we released Garden Plot/Something Strange.

We are in fact working on an album and writing more songs. The album is almost fully recorded now and we’re really lucky to have Julie Bartley as our mixing engineer – she really knows how to make my voice sparkle!

3. Name 5 things we all should know about you as a band?!

  • When the first idea of the band came up, we were coworkers and I accidentally rented a place across the road from Joel. I could see into his living room! So we started going home together, discussing music, falling in love, and the rest is history!

  • Most of our songs are started by Joel on the guitar, with me then figuring out what lyrics would work well with the feel of the song and tweaking the tune until it’s perfect. But there’s also a few where I write the lyrics with a basic tune/rhythm, and then Joel has to come up with the guitar parts to fit around that (Did I is one). In our experience that’s the harder way of writing a song!

  • We both love cats, dogs, birds, goats, cactuses and going on hikes!

  • We are both autistic!

  • Joel is an Aries, Eleanor is a Capricorn!

4. What fashion style or brand would best describe your music?

I don’t think we could name a particular brand – maybe it just doesn’t exist yet!

We like colour, natural fibers, fun prints (cats, cactuses, band t-shirts). We also like wearing matching clothes. And you’d be surprised at how difficult it is to find colourful options for Joel! Men shouldn’t be forced to just wear navy and maybe (if they’re lucky) some dark red.

When we dress up, we look for quality over brand names. On our wedding day we both wore Cheaney shoes.

We also like fun accessories and props: driving gloves, goggles, statement boots, a shovel! So there’s a bit of Mad Max meets David Lynch meets Spaghetti Western movies in our visual style!

5. We live in times of many conspiracy theories. Which, harmless, theory would you wish were true? (For example Dinos living inside Earth or E.T. living in a home in California)

We wish it was true that Keanu Reeves is an immortal time traveler, because if he made movies forever, that would be a good thing for humanity. Also we want Keanu Reeves to play the bass guitar for our band – could you forward the message to him?

6. If you could change anything about the industry, what would it be?

Actually putting music first. This is an effect that we’ve been seeing across music and wider in the entertainment industry – you have to be beautiful first, and then you get to show your skill. Everyone has become homogenized in their looks and it’s an expectation that newcomers do the same. Audiences are marketed to based on looks and style first, not the quality of the songwriting or the performance. In the age of AI generated music, we think it’s more important than ever to focus on how music makes people feel.

7. Tell us more about your songs! Topics! Message!?

Garden Plot and Something Strange are both love songs, they just approach the topic from 2 different angles. Garden Plot is from the point of view of Eleanor: possessive, telling her partner this is how it’s going to be. Something Strange is from the point of view of Joel: vulnerable, craving love but unsure what to do with it. The overall message is that love is a wonderful frightening thing.

8. A question you’d like to answer, but never been asked in an interview before?! + Answer pls

Shockingly, nobody thought to ask us what we’d plant if we had our own garden! It would be a cherry tree, because it has multiple uses: it provides shade, shelter for cute birds, and delicious fruit! In addition, we would plant a Saguaro cactus because it will outlive us and become our legacy.
