Inspired by the polar brinicle phenomenon: G-SHOCK presents the new MRG-BF1000EB.

G-SHOCK today announces the launch of a new MR-G watch, adding to the brand’s flagship line. The new MRG-BF1000EB draws inspiration from the brinicle—an extraordinary natural phenomenon in which ice stalactites form beneath the surface of polar seas.

The MR-G FROGMAN line, comprising full-spec, shock-resistant diver’s watches, combines advanced technology with superb Japanese craftsmanship to deliver the peak performance required by divers. These models have garnered a loyal global following thanks to their ability to withstand extreme conditions and the meticulous attention paid to materials, construction, and finishing during design and production.

The design of the MRG-BF1000EB is inspired by the phenomenon of brinicles—also known as brine icicles. These rare, downward-growing ice columns form naturally beneath the ocean surface when cold saltwater seeps from polar sea ice and sinks.

The bezel, crafted from COBARION—an alloy approximately four times harder than pure titanium—is meticulously finished with hand-crafted facets under the supervision of master cutting and polishing artisan Kazuhito Komatsu. The captivating spiral of intricate facets is highlighted by a scratch-resistant blue Arc Ion Plating (AIP) finish, evoking the mysterious, swirling form of an „ice finger.“

The two front screws, which highlight the characteristic asymmetry of the FROGMAN design, are each set with a lab-grown blue sapphire featuring a 57-facet round brilliant cut.
The iconic FROGMAN diving frog character is engraved on the case back, alongside „MR-G 30TH“—commemorating the 30th anniversary of the MR-G series—and the individual serial number. The MRG-BF1000EB is limited to 800 pieces worldwide.

The watch comes with two interchangeable bands suitable for any occasion: a white Dura-Soft band that is resistant to heat and cold and offers exceptional comfort, and a titanium bracelet with a solid metallic luster. The watch, the interchangeable band, and the band-changing tool are presented in a specially designed box created in collaboration with the high-end Japanese luggage brand Proteca. This results in an extraordinary overall package that perfectly underscores the exclusive nature of this special model.
