HAEVN – „BEGINNERS“ + Exclusive Interview

1. Thank you very much for your time! Before we introduce your new release to our readers – what kind of drink would you recommend to sip on while they listen to your new music?

In a world that screams louder and louder, HAEVN considers calmth and introspect as a super power. While listening to the music of HAEVN we think a subtle and calming drink would be perfect. A warm cup of herbal tea, like chamomile or lavender, could match the peaceful and reflective atmosphere of the music. Alternatively, if you prefer something chilled, a glass of red wine or a gin and tonic can complement the music. It’s all about something that enhances the feeling of serenity, introspection and calmth.

2. Please give us an update about – new single, new album, tour dates, new videos?!

Our new album is called ‚Wide Awake and will be released on October the 11th. This is the newest chapter in our mission to transport listeners to diverse emotional landscapes, creating a space for inner silence and self-reflection. Working together was a way of comforting ourselves and digesting life. We’re honest to each other, our fans,  and our partners. It’s the only way to make a true connection. We believe that music, in this case ours, creates a pathway to resonate with a much deeper emotional layer. We feel like we’ve done that with this body of work. We were very fortunate to record two duets on this album with very talented friends; the Mozambican singer Neco Novellas and American singer Lily Meola.

We are incredibly excited to embark on our ‚Wide Awake‘ tour across Europe. We’ll be performing in some truly beautiful venues in cities like Amsterdam, Berlin, London, Paris, Warsaw, and Vienna.

3. Name 5 things we all should know about you as a band?!

·  Cinematic Sound: Our music is heavily inspired by film scores, aiming to create a sound that feels like a journey or a scene from a movie.

·  Emotion-Driven: Every song we write is rooted in emotion. We believe music should connect deeply on an emotional level.

·  Organic Collaboration: Our collaboration as a band started naturally, with a shared vision to blend classical and modern influences.

·  Visual Storytelling: We always think of visuals when creating music, aiming to paint a picture with sound that lets listeners form their own stories.

·  Dutch Origins, Global Reach: While we’re proud of our Dutch roots, our music has found a home with listeners across the world, reflecting universal themes of love, loss, and hope.

4. What fashion style or brand would best describe your music?

We hope to envision a timeless brand known for its high-quality materials and craftsmanship, something that endures over time. It would offer a range of styles and layers, reflecting different moods and perspectives within a one collection.

5. We live in times of many conspiracy theories. Which, harmless, theory would you wish were true? (For example Dinos living inside Earth or E.T. living in a home in California)

We hope that alien life might one day discover our planet and teach us how to live in harmony with nature and one another.

6. If you could change anything about the industry, what would it be?

If we could change anything about the music industry, it would be to strip away the heavy focus on marketing and storytelling that often overshadows the music itself. The industry should place more emphasis on the purity of sound and artistry, allowing listeners to connect with the music directly, without the distraction of image-building, narratives, and promotional strategies. It would be refreshing if the experience were solely about the music, its emotional depth, and its power to bring people together.

7. Tell us more about your songs! Topics! Message!?

With our new Wide Awake album we aim to take listener on an emotional and personal journey, diving into themes of growth, resilience, love, and self-reflection. Each song delves into various aspects of life’s challenges and relationships, offering a exploration of human experiences.

The album captures the beauty and struggle of being „beginners“ in life, constantly learning, stumbling, and growing through every step. It reflects on the ebb and flow of relationships, from personal struggles in love to broader themes like climate change, as seen in songs like „Great Mother,“ where nature and life’s seasons are used as metaphors for resilience and renewal.

The songs also tackle introspective themes, such as grappling with internal battles („Hold on to Your Love“), personal empowerment during difficult times („One Day“), and the pain of unfulfilled promises („New Year’s Resolution“). Despite the challenges, we aim to carrt an underlying message of hope, emphasizing the importance of self-love, resilience, and the power of second chances in songs like „Promise“ and „Till the Morning.“

In essence, Wide Awake is a collection of deeply personal and reflective songs, urging our audience to embrace both the beauty and hardship of life’s journey with courage and openness.

8.  A question you’d like to answer, but never been asked in an interview before?! + Answer pls

We’d love to be asked: ‚What drives you to keep creating music after all these years?‘ It’s something personal to every musician, but for us, it’s the pure love of crafting sounds and emotions that connect wit hus and after that with our audience. It’s the moments when someone tells us a song helped them through a tough time or brought them joy—that’s why we do what we do.“
