Fox Jackson – „So Divine“ + Exclusive Interview

1. Thank you very much for your time! Before we introduce your new release to our readers – what kind of drink would you recommend to zip on while they listen to your new music?

I think the best way to listen to this track is sippin on whichever drink you like, it’s not so much the drink that’s important but the company. Whether that’s cans of Red Stripe in the park, a glass of wine whilst dinning your sweet baby cakes or a poppin bottle of champagne when overlooking the sunset. As long as you’re sharing a good moment with someone and letting me set some vibe and hopefully inspiring some romance into your evening 🙂

2. Please give us an update about – new single, new album, tour dates, new videos?!

So the new single „Like That“ has just come out which I’m very proud of. We’ve been working hard on these songs for the last couple years. My producer Nick Burns and I always celebrate a little when each single comes out. Especially with this next set of songs as we are working towards a body of music and EP. For „Like That“ there will be a music video so keep your eyes peeled for that but at the moment we’ve just got the „So Divine“ music video which you can check out on YouTube now, so definitely go do that. The next singles will be released month by month so for „Stone Cold“ that will be put out at the end of September and the last track „Get Down“ will come out at the end of October. So more good things on the way! Aren’t you lucky to be a Fox Jackson fan!

3. We live in times of many conspiracy theories. Which, harmless, theory would you wish were true? (For example Dinos living inside Earth or E.T. living in a home in California)

I mean my mind goes to loads of different theories. We have to be careful because a lot of the theories tend to sort of stem back into quite dark origins, especially on the internet. You gotta make sure you’re staying away from some Reddit chats. I mean I feel bad for picking on them but the one that makes absolutely no sense is obviously the flat earth theory. It’s hilarious as it just gets proved to be wrong time and time again but no matter how many times you tell someone that it isn’t flat they just they wanna believe what they wanna believe. I’m pretty sure I saw a clip on YouTube once of two flat earthers doing the theory of light bending in accordance with the earth and they did the science experiment and they prove that the earth is flat. Needless to say they were pretty stumped with the outcome and had to question their own worldview.

4. What fashion style or brand would best describe your music?

What fashion style or brand would best describe my music? I would say it’s gotta be like a really nice 70s style double breasted suit with smart suit trousers and a really big flared collar and some cool glasses. If you think of the band that sang “ain’t no stopping us now”, I think they’re called McFadden and Whitehead, but the way those two dress is what my music sounds like – smart chic and just a little bit sexy.

5. Tell us more about your songs! Topics! Message!?

So the first two songs that are out are „So Divine“ and „Like That“ and they have different messages. „So Divine“ is about sharing a night with someone you love and letting the love take a hold of the both. Falling for someone even though it might be on the first night. 😉  I wanted to write something that was a throwback to Barry White, Michael Jackson and George Benson where we’re spending the night together and we’re getting caught up in each other and the romance we’re sharing. „Like That“ on the other hand is a bit more sentimental. It’s about asking your significant other to still trust you and place the faith of the relationship in your hands. It’s about employing the other person to say, „if I’m not how you want me, then how do you want me? And what can I do to gain your affections again or break down those walls that we’ve built up.“

6. Beside music, do you have any special talents?

I make a pretty mean guacamole. All my friends and family say it’s the bomb. Yeah, I’ve got a few special talents and tricks up my sleeves obviously from being Billy Elliot back in the West End. I learnt how to dance, sing and act from a young age, so you’ll definitely catch me throwing some shapes on the dance floor every now and again, but I also used to do a lot of gymnastics when I was a kid. Recently I played a gig at the Half Moon in Putney and when the person introduced me to play they said I could do a handstand and the whole audience thought I was just joking and chatting out my arse so at the end of the show I thought would be really funny to hold  a handstand whilst the band was doing their little solos and that went down a treat.

7. Name 5 things we all should know about you as an artist?!

good tunes.  great band. Interesting songwriting. Brilliant producer.

And really terrible God awful cringeworthy nonsense chat in between songs, you should definitely come down for that.

8. The road so far…. who or what was your biggest support??

I first picked up the guitar when I was 16. I was in Ireland filming a TV series called My Phone Genie on CITV and I had a lot of downtime in between shooting so I decided to buy my very first Guitar and start teaching myself just from YouTube. It’s amazing how far you can go just from typing in your favourite songs and how to learn them and then you just keep building from there you learn different chords and different scales and I always love singing growing up so that was a given but the guitar is something that I love to do because you will never be good enough. It’s an endless journey once you’re learning a musical instrument  and then I started to write a couple of shitty songs when I was 17/18 and then like everything practice makes perfect and hopefully get better. I mean take a listen to the songs and you tell me .

9. A question you’d like to answer, but never been asked in an interview before?! + Answer pls

Where is my favourite spot to go in North London? My favourite spot to go in North London and have seen me there on many nights either sober or drunk is Rowan’s Tenpin Bowling in Finsbury Park. It’s perfect for any kind of occasion. It’s a really chilled out bowling hall in the day where there’s lots of mums and kids running about and you can just have a relaxed drink and go for a bowl, and then in the evening it turns into this really horrible cheesy rundown disco where they play music ranging from ABBA, to Bad Bunny, back to 50 Cent – it’s all over the place but that’s what makes it so great if you don’t go in with the judgemental mindset that you won’t enjoy it. You have to switch off your brain cells and just let it happen. There’s also karaoke and pool as well if you’ve had enough of the dancefloor. But if you haven’t been, you should definitely go check it out. It’s horrible but in the best way.
