Edwina van Kuyk – „Here to Stay“ + Exclusive Interview

1. Thank you very much for your time! Before we introduce your new release to our readers – what kind of drink would you recommend to sip on while they listen to your new music?

Thanks for having me! I think we need one of those poolside cocktails with a ridiculous amount of umbrellas in it, like a pina colada.

2. Please give us an update about – new single, new album, tour dates, new videos?!

I just released my latest single ‚Here to Stay‘. It’s a song about loss and fear, but somehow it feels uplifting. You’ll have to check it out to believe me haha. I live in Ireland so I have a couple of shows this summer. I’m writing my album at the moment and this summer feels like it’s gonna be a big one for getting the bones of it complete. It’s a really exciting time for me and my music!

3. We live in times of many conspiracy theories. Which, harmless, theory would you wish were true? (For example Dinos living inside Earth or E.T. living in a home in California)

I like the idea that aliens have already landed on earth and they’re living amongst us.

4. What fashion style or brand would best describe your music?

My friend Greg has a fashion brand called Pellador so it’s gotta be that one!

5. Tell us more about your songs! Topics! Message!?

I always write about very personal experiences. I don’t mean for it to be that way but often I try to write something completely different, and the underlying message comes from whatever I’ve been experiencing at the time. I guess it has to come out and as an artist, I don’t always get the say about how it does. My recent single has gospel elements to it. It’s featuring a live choir which is very exciting!

6. Beside music, do you have any special talents?

I did once judge a competition for Ireland’s Best Margarita, so I guess the talent is margarita related?

7. Name 5 things we all should know about you as an artist?!

– I’ve definitely taken the scenic route, and I’m glad I did. I know who I am as an artist now.

– If I don’t write music for even a week or two, I feel low, so I think it’s something I’m meant to do!

– I tried not doing music before (long story) and it just wasn’t possible. It’s followed me everywhere I’ve gone.

– I’m happy if I get to do exactly this for the rest of my life

– I’m just getting started

8. The road so far…. who or what was your biggest support??

My partner, Phil. He’s always believed in me, and I might have given up by now if it wasn’t for him.

9. A question you’d like to answer, but never been asked in an interview before?! + Answer pls

‚what would you change about the music industry?‘ and my answer – I would love it if the artists & creatives were centred and were able to be supported and not exploited by big money making machines. Nowadays it’s the people who make the art that come out of it the worst and something needs to change to make it a viable career for smaller artists. I think it’s possible too, so I hope to see a shift in that soon!
