Editorial: „Why Me“ feat. Jesse Gentry shot by Photorsh

We seem to always think to ourselves, „Why me? Why is it always me that gets punished or why is it me that can’t seem to get things right?“ Well, the short answer to that is sometimes you need to fail and fall down before you can rise above everything and thrive. One of my favorite quotes is by J.K. Rowling, and it says, „It is impossible to live without failing at something, unless you live so cautiously that you might as well not have lived at all, in which case you have failed by default.“

This quote resonates deeply because it highlights the importance of taking risks and embracing failure as a necessary step towards growth and success. When we play it too safe, we may avoid failure, but we also miss out on the opportunity to learn, adapt, and ultimately, to thrive.

Think about it – every successful person has experienced failure at some point in their journey. Thomas Edison, the inventor of the light bulb, is famously quoted as saying, „I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.“ His persistence and willingness to take risks ultimately led to his groundbreaking discovery.

Similarly, when we encounter obstacles and setbacks, we have two choices: we can let them define us, or we can use them as stepping stones to success. By adopting a growth mindset and viewing failure as an opportunity to learn and improve, we can turn what seems like a disadvantage into a tool for growth.

So, the next time you find yourself wondering, „Why me?“, remember that failure is not a reflection of your worth or abilities. Instead, it’s a sign that you’re pushing yourself outside of your comfort zone, taking risks, and striving for excellence. And that, in itself, is a remarkable achievement.

I used to be that person always dragging my feet and feeling low because I kept failing over and over again. I’ve worked hard and I’ve failed, and felt like a failure. But then I changed my mindset to: I may have failed, but I’m still a winner because I made a small bit of progress. Even if I fell, I’m closer to winning. This subtle shift in perspective has been a game-changer for me. It’s allowed me to focus on the progress I’ve made, rather than the setbacks. It’s given me the courage to keep going, even when the road ahead seems uncertain. And it’s reminded me that every failure is an opportunity to learn and grow. So, the next time you’re faced with failure, remember: you’re not a failure, you’re just one step closer to success.
