Editorial: "Late Bloomer" feat. Derek by Roger Nguyen

„LATE BLOOMER“ is based on the inspirational life story of Derek, the Cover Model for MALE MUSE MAGAZINE #3. It is a standalone Special Edition Publication that is a departure from any of my previous works. There is no nudity within „LATE BLOOMER.“ I wanted to introduce my work to a broader audience on Kickstarter who will find Part 1 of this story driven biopic supported by real-life captures that will be difficult to reconcile as truth.

There was no image editing or A.I. enhancement used in the depiction of Derek’s physical transformation. Some of these images can dredge up painful memories as they no longer resemble how Derek sees himself. Despite the emotional trauma of seeing some images for the first time, Derek has agreed to participate in this project to help inspire others with his story.

Derek is living proof of where you start out in life does not have to be where you end up.

Part 2 imagines Derek’s pursuits as a „Late Bloomer“ whose dreams are driven by desire, beauty, and lust for men. Meanwhile his reality for the first 23 years of his life has been isolation, loneliness, depression and social rejection all based on his physical appearance.

Despite having an awkward looking face with a big nose growing up and being overweight, Derek always dreamed of being an object of desire. In our gay society, underwear models are worshipped as the ultimate in male beauty and physical perfection.

The fictionalized events in Part 2 allowed me an opportunity to use artistic license to present Derek as a character in a series of original storylines.

The universe did not make Derek’s wishes come true, but it was his determination over the course of five years that transformed his body and his looks.
