Deathsport – „Running In Circles“ + Exclusive Interview

1. Thank you very much for your time! Before we introduce your new release to our rea ders – what kind of drink would you recommend to sip on while they listen to your new music?

Something with a kick and a wink — like Rick Dalton’s blender margarita in Once Upon a time in Hollywood, messy, loud, and perfect. Or a cold brew with orange zest if you’re keeping it clean but mysterious. Our music likes to twist halfway through, just when you think you’ve got the flavor figured out.

2. Please give us an update about – new single, new album, tour dates, new videos?!

We just dropped our latest single Running in Circles — our interpretation of an American heartland synth rock anthem. We are wrapping up our next release in June 2025 and can’t wait to show you a very danceable Deathsport song.

3. Name 5 things we all should know about you as a band?!

  1. We build songs backwards – instrumental first, words after
  2. We have a band corgi called Archie and when he is around we cannot record a shaker
  3. We are arguing way too much about tape delay and reverb
  4. Every song we write has at least one autobiographical picture we describe
  5. We like to have tangible analogue sounds even though we cannot tell the difference to the more convenient digital ones

4. What fashion style or brand would best describe your music?

A crossover between thrift-store chic and concrete cowboy? A made in the USA Wrangler Jeans Jacket lost at a vintage flea market, while Joy Division plays in the background.

5. We live in times of many conspiracy theories. Which, harmless, theory would you wish were true?

The one where Bob Dylan made a pact with the devil at the crossroads — like Robert Johnson before him. If that were true, it’d actually be kind of comforting. A reminder that genius isn’t always born, sometimes it’s… summoned. You just need the right demon and a guitar — and luckily, we’ve got plenty of crossroads here in Germany.

6. If you could change anything about the industry, what would it be?

The algorithm overlords. Let humans decide what they love again. Also, more room for weirdness. Let artists experiment without needing to fit into a 15-second hook.

7. Tell us more about your songs! Topics! Message!?

We try to depict relatable feelings — like late-night anxiety, self-doubt, isolation, and the looming dread of climate change — and turn them into indie anthems you can cry-dance to. It’s music for overthinkers with good taste in synths.

8. A question you’d like to answer, but never been asked in an interview before?! + Answer pls

Q: How do you find the perfect vintage denim Jeans?

A: Forget size labels — they’re more like suggestions. Since most jeans have been washed and altered over time, always size up by two for that just-right fit. Look for your ideal wash, and don’t forget the „Made in USA“ tag. Levi’s stopped making jeans in the U.S. after the 2000s, so that tag means you’re holding onto a piece of denim history!
