CHAPAL and the elegance of the golden age of the automobile

Driving becomes a way of life when the Maison’s refinement, style and elegance meet the design and engineering of the golden age of motoring.

For over a century, fashion and the automotive industry have echoed and influenced one another, driven by a shared ambition: to shape their era, influence lifestyles and constantly push the boundaries of what is possible; one through technical innovation, the other through bold design.

The 1950s and 1960s represent the pinnacle of automotive style and its icons.
This collection is designed for gentlemen drivers who participate in major automotive events such as the Tour Auto, the Mans Classic and the Mille Miglia, where the drivers’ elegance mirrors that of the cars.

With its Driving & Racing collection, CHAPAL offers a complete wardrobe designed for classic car enthusiasts. Designed to capture the authentic vintage aesthetic, these pieces recreate the spirit and elegance of the paddocks of the past. The outfits can be entirely made to order. The fabrics, leathers and helmet paint are matched to the car. Customization and bespoke tailoring can be taken to the extreme.

Racing overalls, jackets and shoes; leather-trimmed goggles and masks; perforated driving gloves and helmets; all these accessories embody a refined and sporty elegance.
Each piece draws direct inspiration from archives, vintage photos or authentic artifacts such as the helmet worn by Maurice Trintignant, which the legendary driver offered to Jean-François Bardinon. The influence of other great pilots in this collection  is evident in the 1960 helmet worn by Jim Clark and the gloves worn by John Surtees.

Since 1832, successive generations of the CHAPAL family have been tanners, industrialists and esthetes but they have also been adventurers, race car pilots and gentlemen drivers. The automobile holds a special place in this family history.
Under the leadership of Jean-François Bardinon, the Maison has supported numerous international racing teams.
Each piece in the collection embodies a philosophy of understated luxury inspired by history and designed for whom driving a classic car is a true art of living.
