ASICS and Little Tokyo Table Tennis (LTTT) cement their partnership with the launch of a reimagined GEL-RESOLUTION™ 5 shoe that shines a light on ASICS’ technical mastery and LTTT’s play-centered design language.
LTTT has modified the ASICS’ stability-focused shoe to feel even sportier. An elongated clear/gradient ASICS Stripe calls to speed. Referential table tennis motifs – particularly from the 2014 season are found on both the inner and outer panels. The medial side is stripped of the tiger stripe, commenting on the simplicity that is experienced while playing table tennis. The toe caps are reengineered and decorated with playful debossed patterns, LTTT and 40++++ logos. Gradient filled LTTT air bubbles are added on each side for ping pong enhancement.
Polyurethane is used throughout the design to promote LTTT’s fascination with the layers found in life (table tennis); body and mind; paddle and ball. A premium sock liner is added for excellent comfort. Insoles feature homemade images and drawings from the LTTT universe.
LTTT and ASICS branding are found on the tongue of each shoe – displaying the healthy balance of a true partnership. Little Tokyo Table Tennis’ iconic Kanji is embroidered down the tongue alongside a raised 40 ++++ that reads across both sneakers, a wholesome nod to the LTTT store in Los Angeles.
Each pair contains two different styles and colored sets of laces, one bungee with an ASICS toggle and another with no tie properties – offering flexibility in extreme lacing style and easy modification for instant use when one is called to play.
The bright green pair features a dual colored bright yellow and green knit across the sneaker. A colorway that assists with happiness and fun. Clear thermoplastic polyurethane panels allow the knit to shine through creating various textures and depth. Metallic silver painted details make the toe cap design blend in and stand out at the same time. A clear heel cage surrounds the shoe for extra support – ending in an icy blue gradient at the middle of the foot. This leads into a clear sole with multicolored elements showcasing the thoughtfulness of ASICS’ technical design.
The white pair is composed of breathable wide knit white mesh. A red lacing support system calls attention to the multiple fabrics and typefaces on the tongue. A clear to red TPU TS calls to the power of movement in the shoe design. A bold black FF BLAST™ PLUS cushioned midsole separates the classic gum style sole – a nod to sports played in the gym.
