Dex Parker – Top Model Interview

1. How did you get into modeling?

In my early 20s I got really into creating content for my Instagram page, @carew_movement. As the platform began to grow, companies/brands started to reach out for gigs and opportunities to model for them. Ever since I have been freelance and have enjoyed exploring this industry mostly on my own.

2. What are you doing if you are not modeling?

I wear many hats outside of modeling. I work part-time as a registered respiratory therapist under Vancouver Coastal Health as an educator and besides position. My passion and vocation is instructing movement and dance. I host regular classes and workshops in Vancouver, BC and plan to start teaching around the globe. I also do some freelance social media marketing and copyright. More recently, I have started to step into creating adult content as a performer and producer.

3. The most spontaneous/difficult/strange thing you’ve ever done?

I’m naturally quite curious and spontaneous. So what I do on a regular basis may seem very spontaneous/strange to most. I believe there is a spectrum. One of the most spontaneous things I’ve done is going to the island of Kawaii with a previous partner after we had only been seeing each other for a month. It was very spurred of the moment, but it was a trip and experience that changed my life. I believe the most difficult thing I have had to do is separate from my ex-wife back in 2016 after 3.5 years of marriage. She was one of my closest friends and I loved my in-laws deeply, but our life path and aims were completely different. So I made the diffucult decision to split with her because I wanted us to live in our truth, not a life that feels as though we are settling for less just to be together. I’m happy to say over the years we have reconnected and are on friendly terms.

4. What’s your life motto?

Move, laugh, and play more.

5. Describe your personal style – Favorite Brands/Fragrance?!

Anything that combines function and fashion together speaks to me. I want to be able to feel the capacity to move freely in my clothes. I try to find fragrances that accentuate my natural pheromones; nothing too overpowering. Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille is a personal favorite.

6. What genre of music best describes you?

EDM for sure. I enjoy a wide range of electronic music, but I tend to gravitate towards lo-fi, dance, future bass, and dubstep.

7. Where are your roots – The best thing about/to do in your hometown?

I’ve always felt like a vagabond; as though I could make a home and find family/tribe wherever I go. I see love and possibility in all peoples and all places. From that, I would say my roots are connection and community. I have a very deep urge to share myself authentically and in a vulnerable way to bolster people’s capacity to see the power of showing up in their lives with truth. My roots are facing and bring shame to the surface — again through my own sharings and my actions.

Since I’m bisexual I’ll choose a female and male celebrity.
