Tissot – A comeback made of stone: The RockWatch returns

With the changing seasons, when the snow begins to melt, the earth reveals what the years have long hidden: traces of the past, shaped by nature and only waiting to be rediscovered. In this silent moment of return, the Tissot RockWatch also finds its way back to light. Springing from the granite of the Swiss Alps, it originates from an era when Tissot dared to shape time in stone. Since 1853, the Maison has honored the passing of the seasons with precision, patience, and passion. Just as water carves its way through granite, forming valleys over millennia, Tissot shapes moments that endure and leave their mark on history.

The RockWatch was born in 1985: a world first, a piece of the mountain that became a reflection of Swiss savoir-faire. Many years later, this icon is now making its comeback, reborn from the rugged beauty of the Alps, in a limited edition of 999 pieces. Featuring an exclusive collector’s box modeled on a block of granite, the packaging evokes the raw power of the Alps and underscores the watch’s connection to its mountain origins. Available exclusively at select retailers, each watch is a precious echo of the original and represents both a chapter in Tissot’s history and a piece of Switzerland.

From the mountain peaks to your wrist

At 4,158 meters, the Jungfrau rises through the clouds above the noise of everyday life. From this majestic peak, a remarkable story unfolds. During the construction of the Alpine tunnels, a secret was revealed: granite, shaped over millennia, had remained hidden until then.

This stone, mined from the Jungfrau, is the soul of the RockWatch. In keeping with its own innovative spirit, Tissot has carved the RockWatch from the mountain’s hidden heart. Crafting raw granite into refined 38mm cases requires a high degree of technical skill and a delicate balance of strength and finesse. What began deep within the Earth reveals itself as a timepiece of rare quality, a quiet marvel that makes the mountain’s legacy wearable on the wrist.

A Heritage Carved in Stone

While the original RockWatch from 1985 featured red and yellow hands inspired by Alpine signposts, this new edition features nickel-plated hands that subtly and timelessly evoke the enduring sophistication of Alpine stone. An elegant detail that complements this 38mm granite case. A supple black leather strap also offers a beautiful color contrast and pleasant comfort. The anti-reflective sapphire crystal is an upgrade from the original mineral crystal. It is more durable, protects the integrated dial, and, last but not least, ensures a seamless visual transition between stone and glass.

As with the first RockWatch, the granite is sourced from the Swiss Alps. Inside, the watch is powered by a quartz movement selected for its accuracy and reliability, as well as its lightness, ideally complementing the weight and solidity of the granite. Past and present merge in this new RockWatch, keeping the soul of the Alps alive.
