Capri, 1948. By chance, the prior of the Carthusian monastery Certosa di San Giacomo discovers a historical collection of old perfume formulas.
After requesting permission from the Pope, he presents the formulas to a chemist from Piedmont, who then establishes a small perfume laboratory.
It is named Carthusia (derived from the name of the Carthusian monks‘ monastery).
Today, Carthusia is a cultural treasure of the world-famous, idyllic Italian island.
All production steps are meticulously carried out by hand using traditional methods.
