Swim Swim Naked – „Cool“ + Exclusive Interview

1. Thank you very much for your time! Before we introduce your new release to our readers – what kind of drink would you recommend to sip on while they listen to your new music?

We’d say it would be a simple, light beer, the kind you enjoy on a hot day to cool down. Refreshing, uplifting, and not taking itself too seriously.

2. Please give us an update about – new single, new album, tour dates, new videos?!

Our latest single is called “Cool”, and it’s a playful song about staying kind and open, keeping our sense of playfulness and holding on to that childlike spirit. Musically, it blends an electronic foundation with funky grooves, layered vocals, and even a kazoo, giving it a fun and unique character. We’ve also released a music video for it on YouTube. It’s set at a pool party with lots of people and vibrant, exciting imagery that captures the joyful and playful vibe of the track. This summer we played festivals all across Hungary, and we also had the chance to perform in Sweden and Copenhagen. Coming up next, we’ll be part of the Budapest Showcase Hub and the Music Hungary Showcase Festival, and we’ll also play some club shows, for example, in Budapest we’ll be opening for Flanger Kids.

3.  Name 5 things we all should know about you as a band?!

  1. We love blending electronic sounds with funky grooves, playful vocals, and even unusual instruments, the kazoo is one of our favorites.
  2. We love colorful cables.
  3. We’ve been making all our album covers and all the artwork ourselves.
  4. Our extended “band members” are stuffed animals, always aquatic ones like an octopus, frog, crocodile, or shark.
  5. We really love art, not just music. For example, we enjoy working with ceramics and often go to a pottery studio to create.

4. What fashion style or brand would best describe your music?

Our style would be most clearly described by colorful jumpsuits, we always perform in jumpsuits, often bright, often patterned (for example one with hearts on a pink background from the brand Lucy and Yak). We chose jumpsuits because they give an extra dimension to what we do: we are the mechanics of our music, piecing together every little idea, assembling sounds, making something that people can feel. The workwear clothing show that we’re hands‐on, that we put in work, and that we are united in creating together.

5. We live in times of many conspiracy theories. Which, harmless, theory would you wish were true? (For example Dinos living inside Earth or E.T. living in a home in California)

When we were kids, we were always told that if you eat carrots, you’ll be able to whistle beautifully. It would be amazing if eating healthy food really gave you little abilities like that!

6. If you could change anything about the industry, what would it be?

If we could change something about the industry, we’d love to see more balance between small and big bands. Too often, the bigger acts get almost all the spotlight and promotion, while smaller ones struggle to be discovered. We wish there were more opportunities for little bands too. The same goes for payment: it’s not fair that some streaming platforms pay almost nothing in royalties. Another important change would be better mental health support for musicians, it would be great if the industry put more effort into supporting artists’ wellbeing.

7. Tell us more about your songs! Topics! Message!?

Our songs usually carry a sense of lightness and simplicity, often reflecting the small joys of everyday life. At the same time, we hope they encourage people, even if only for the length of a song to stay true to themselves, to be creative, and to embrace being different or thinking in another way.  Musically, we blend electronic textures, analog gear, digital sounds and live vocals, creating a unique mix that feels both playful and heartfelt. At our concerts we jump, dance, and invite the audience to do the same, because our shows are about sharing that joy collectively.

8.  A question you’d like to answer, but never been asked in an interview before?! + Answer pls

What has been the most surreal concert experience you’ve had this year?

This summer we traveled to Sweden to play at a festival organized by an artist we hadn’t even met before, I Am Soyuz. She basically took over an island and decided to create a festival there, and invited us to play. We got there by boat, and it was windy and we were worried it might rain, so before the concert we were setting up tarps for cover and slowly turning the island into a festival ground. We put up lights, sawed wooden boards to place under the speakers, and built everything together with an amazing band, LA Suzi, and some lovely friends. At one point, just an hour before the concert, someone even built us a wooden table so we could set up our gear on it. It was unbelievable, it felt like a completely DIY party, and one of the most surreal experiences we’ve ever had.
