The new Sportivo Power Chronograph First Edition stands for strength and endurance – whether in a professional environment or during sporting challenges. When it comes to precision, the watch scores points with the second modular movement developed by Mühle-Glashütte. It bears the designation MU9424-GR – whereby the caliber suffix „-GR“ refers to the newly developed mill module, which expands the previous chronograph movement MU9413.
“GR” stands for the power reserve display. This is made possible by a complex mechanism that is positioned in a module board on the dial side of the movement. In addition to adding the module, Mühle-Glashütte made further modifications to the movement in order to be able to perfectly display the power reserve of 62 hours.
On the one hand, this requires a modified barrel with which the power reserve module is directly connected – on the other hand, for example, the base plate must be provided with additional holes and millings on the in-house CNC machining centers. In this way, step by step, a 29-jewel Mühle movement is created with a particularly shock-proof woodpecker neck regulation, Glashütte three-quarter plate including a removable escape wheel bridge as well as a Glashütte ratchet and, last but not least, the efficient Mühle rotor.
After the components have been completed with the finest Glashütte cuts and polishes, the clockwork
is assembled by hand and carefully regulated in six positions. The watchmakers at Mühle-Glashütte set it so that its rate is between 0 and +8 seconds per day. The in-house regulation specification is based on the chronometer standard on the one hand and is intended to prevent the watch from running late on the other. No wearer of a Mühle watch should be late because of his watch.
The high-quality stainless steel housing is also very robust and embodies strength through its striking black IP coating (Ion Plating), in which titanium or a titanium alloy is applied to the housing using an ion beam. There is also a double anti-reflective sapphire crystal with a thickness of 2.2 millimeters and an equally scratch-resistant ceramic inlay for the bezel that can be rotated on both sides. The 42.5 millimeter case is also suitable for outdoor use thanks to its screw-down crown including side protection and high water resistance of up to 30 bar. The new Sportivo Power Chronograph First Edition is held on the arm by a waterproof leather strap with an alligator grain and red contrasting stitching. This is also provided with a rubber layer.
