SEAFARER FABLES – ‘STANISLAW LEM’ + Exclusive Interview

1. Thank you very much for your time! Before we introduce your new release to our readers – what kind of drink would you recommend to sip on while they listen to Seafarer Fables?

Probably mulled wine or a cup of Earl Grey tea.

2. Please give us an update about your latest single ‘Stanislaw Lem’.

I recently released the music video for the track, which was shot in Portugal. I wanted to bring something authentic from the city to the video to commemorate where it was shot, the time I spent there and the people involved in its production.

3. What are some of the main topics / messages behind it?

The song is essentially a space exploration journey and it explores some of the novelties about living and being in orbit. It’s about how we experience the laws of physics and how we perceive the physical world around us and that this isn’t fixed or constant. The song touches on aspects such as time dilation and reflects on how highly subjective our perceptions are.

But the song is also a metaphor for our own journeys in life generally, particularly when living abroad and travelling to new and unexpected places. It’s a reflection of what home is and perhaps thinking of a particular place or period in life.

4. How did you learn to sing/ to write/ to play?

I learnt to play the piano as a teenager, then I transitioned to the guitar. I started singing as I learnt the guitar and as I was starting to write songs.

5. Name 5 things we all should know about you as an artist?

  • I’m from New Zealand
  • I live in Melbourne, Australia
  • I draw a lot of inspiration from the ocean and long voyages.
  • Each song I write has a several layers that unfold after multiple listens.
  • I have a new EP in development

6. What fashion style or brand would best describe your music?

I would say a DIY aesthetic would best describe Seafarer Fables, but I generally try to support local creators/brands where I can.

7. Beside music, do you have any special talents?

I can cycle through almost any type of traffic.

8. We live in times of many conspiracy theories. Which harmless theory would you wish were true? (For example, E.T. living in a home in California)

Perhaps that the Loch Ness monster is real. It wouldn’t be too disturbing if this was true.
