1. Thank you very much for your time! Before we introduce your new release to our readers – what kind of drink would you recommend to zip on while they listen to your new music?
For this new release, we would recommend sipping on something like a glass of red wine, a smoked old fashioned, or a mezcal old fashioned (Nick’s favorite).
2. Please give us an update about – new single, new album, tour dates, new videos?!
Our single “Control” just hit 22,000 plays on YouTube, which is a huge milestone for us! We’re super grateful and so excited to see it do so well on that platform. We’re hoping we can continue on that trajectory and see our Spotify and Apple Music numbers grow as well. So if you haven’t already, give us a follow on those platforms.
No solid plans for a music video yet, but we’re working on some behind-the-scenes content about the Forager EP, so stay tuned for that.
We’re not touring just yet, but we’re working hard to get our name out there and hoping to play some music festivals soon. Last year, we had the pleasure of performing at the Blooming Mullet festival, and we’d love to be back there again. We’ve also submitted to play at Samsara, a music festival on Vancouver Island, which would be an amazing opportunity. But if we’re being totally honest, our ultimate goal is to get on the Grove stage at Shambhala Music Festival. That stage, and the energy there has been a huge inspiration to us, and we’d love to bring our music to that crowd one day.
3. Name 5 things we all should know about you as a band?!
1. We love the outdoors. Hiking, surfing, camping and music festivals are how we like to spend most of our free time. A lot of our music is inspired by nature and we draw from that when we write.
2. Julian and Nick have been friends for 16 years. We met in band class during highschool in 2009. We were both playing jazz at the time, and never would have expected to find ourselves producing electronic music together 16 years later.
3. We are both getting married this year in August! People always joke that we do everything together and come as a package deal. This wasn’t intentional, but it’s a funny example of how closely aligned we are with each other.
4. Some of our favorite artists are CharlestheFirst, Saturna, CONTRA, Player Dave and Chmura. These artists are where we aspire to be. We hope to meet them in the future, and one day share the stage with them.
5. We both quit our jobs and went to music school together at SAE Institute in North Vancouver during 2022. Julian has been producing music since 2020, and Nick started shortly after in 2022.
4. What fashion style or brand would best describe your music?
Street/hipster/hippie kind of vibes. We both thrift a lot of our clothes, so it’s hard to pinpoint a brand. Essentially we like oversized baggy T’s, and well worn/lived in clothes.
5. We live in times of many conspiracy theories. Which, harmless, theory would you wish were true? (For example Dinos living inside Earth or E.T. living in a home in California)
If we could choose one theory to be true, it would have to be that there is another realm that we haven’t figured out how to reach. Vivid geometric patterns, shifting landscapes, and all knowing entities that guide you on your path.
6. If you could change anything about the industry, what would it be?
We would love to see a more transparent and supportive system for independent artists. Smaller artists seem to get lost in the noise, even if they have great music. More opportunities for indie musicians to connect directly with people, and get paid fairly for their work. We believe platforms should prioritize artists rights, and there should be more support for the creative process, not just the commercial side.
7. Tell us more about your songs! Topics! Message!?
Our track ‚Control‘ is the standout vocal-focused piece on the Forager EP. We’ve been experimenting with how to blend vocals into this style of music, which has been a bit of a challenge. There really isn’t much to compare ourselves to when it comes to integrating vocals with hard-hitting bass, so we’ve had to carve out our own space. The goal is to continue developing this approach and use more vocals in future projects, helping make the genre more accessible to newcomers.
The other three tracks on the EP are instrumental and more focused on sound design. We’re really proud of how far we’ve come in terms of sound design—polishing and refining our work while also creating something that takes listeners on a journey. Our inspiration comes from nature and our personal experiences, and we hope it resonates with everyone who listens.
8. A question you’d like to answer, but never been asked in an interview before?! + Answer pl
‚If your music could transport listeners to any place in the world, where would it be and why?‘
We would want our music to take listeners to a quiet, untouched forest during sunrise, or sunset—somewhere deep in the wilderness, with mist hanging low over the trees, and the only sounds are the wind and distant wildlife. There’s something incredibly peaceful and grounding about being in nature, especially in a place where time feels like it slows down. I think our
music, especially the instrumental parts, has that kind of expansive, ethereal quality that could give listeners the sensation of escaping the hustle and just being present in the moment.
