1. Thank you very much for your time! Before we introduce your new release to our readers – what kind of drink would you recommend to sip on while they listen to your new music?
Definitely a paloma with a tajin rim! chefs kiss!
2. Please tell us about your forthcoming album.
wW took our time with Gabbeh, it had to be just right musically and visually! The concept is inspired by the Qashqai women in persian nomad tribes who weave their GABBEHs (a specific type of persian carpet) sealing in their memories! kind of like their journal. This album is my Gabbeh and I talk about so many different aspects of living far away from Iran, sense of longing, the reality of being an artist, the women life freedom movement, a lot of different themes lets say.
3. We live in times of many conspiracy theories. Which, harmless, theory would you wish were true
I’d say the one about Tupac still being alive! That would be such a pleasant surprise 🙂
4. What fashion style or brand would best describe your music?
100% MUGLER! the ss21 collection! The cat walk for that show was soooo insane!
5. Tell us more about the themes running across your record.
This record is literally pages from my diary/notes app! I wrote all the songs with my partner in crime Erio, I would read him all the memories, themes, fears and images I had written and gathered during time and we’d try to bring them to life through melody. It’s quite melancholic but also a bit uncertain. it brings to life one of my biggest fears, the fear of forgetting! forgetting how to write in farsi, forgetting names and faces or even places. To me forgetting feels like losing my identity.
6. Beside music, do you have any special talents?
I think I could be a good radio host or a VJ!
7. Name 5 things we all should know about you as an artist?
– I’ve always wanted to have a platform to raise awareness about animal rights, bjork is such an inspo on this matter!
-I was studying to be an actress first, music kind of found me actually!
-I started writing my first songs when I was having vocal cord issues and through that limit I found my voice.
-Love to shape shift and experiment through my music and my visuals. They go hand in hand.
– have recently become obsessed with „oklu obvious, choke enough, blade bird session for nts.“
8. The road so far…. who or what has been your biggest supporter?
My best friend Manuela , she has been there since the music academy, been there when I was going through vocal cord therapy, when I was changing my project and becoming a solo act! my N1 supporter since day1!
9. Is there a question you wish people would ask about your new album? What would it be and what would the answer be?
I asked this from my producer Fabio Lombardi because I’m the one who always gets questions but the work he and Erio have done on this album has been massive and brought the whole thing to life.
He said he would ask: Are there any hidden references in any of the tracks?
YES! in jadoo there is a little reference to a song by „The Who“ that I’m curious to see if anyone can catch.
