1 Thank you very much for your time! Before we introduce your new release to our readers – what kind of drink would you recommend to zip on while they listen to your new music?
Glad to speak with you today, thanks for having me. I’d recommend a chilled Pellegrino from a glass bottle with a lime. I’m obsessed with water, though. Coffee might be a good choice as well.
2. Please give us an update about – new single, new album, tour dates, new videos?!
Sure. We just released our second single for Duchessbox Records, When Doves Cry, which is a cover of the legendary Prince song. We love it so much because it was a total departure from our usual style and a kind of risky experiment in a way. We just went for it and it came out good, in our opinion anyway. This is the second single that will be part of a bigger project, but it’s a little too early to share more. There is a video for the song that is out on Youtube as well, which is a lot of fun and sort of a nod to the late great David Lynch and to Prince as well of course.
We’ve got some tour dates coming up too. We are Playing in our hometown of Berlin March 21st and again May 30th. We are also going to Poland for the first time which is a thrill. We are in Warsaw June 26th and in Poznan June 27th. Please check our social media for more info on that.
3 We live in times of many conspiracy theories. Which, harmless, theory would you wish were true? (For example Dinos living inside Earth or E.T. living in a home in California)
ET living in a retirement home is pretty funny, I hadn’t heard that one. I’m into a few theories I suppose, but I if they were true they wouldn’t be harmless. I would be interested in a civilisation inside of the earth, dinos, or just other beings. That sounds like a fascinating thing to discover!
4. What fashion style or brand would best describe your music?
I love fashion, particularly Goth style lately. My music definitely has a lot of Goth elements. I’m also into oversized everything right now, which maybe has some kind of correlation to the music I’m making. I do like big beats and fat basslines, so that makes sense. I also like unusual, one of a kind clothing too, which is also very much my approach to making music. I love things that are unique and timeless as well, musically and otherwise.
5. Tell us more about your songs! Topics! Message!?
Well, they’re all different of course. To speak generally; I love theatricality and and drama. I love compelling stories and things that draw you in quickly. I love exploring humanity in the world and in myself. I love bringing in influences from other art forms into my work too. I’m all about growing as a human being and learning about myself and improving myself. This makes the world a better place for me and hopefully for those that interact with me.
So a lot of times the subject matter of my work are things that expose me to something new about myself I didn’t realize.
For instance I have a song called “Sunday” that came out in January. It came through very quickly, and seems to be about someone who is leaving a relationship rather suddenly, and is kind of dealing with the fallout of the situation. We don’t know if they are right about what they did, they don’t either by the way, and we don’t know if the character is a good person. For me though, I sort of realise it came from my fear of commitment. It sort of showed me there is not always a right thing to do. Life is mostly a grey area and you have to follow your instincts about what is right for you.
6. Beside music, do you have any special talents?
I don’t know how talented I am at it, but I love films and acting. I’ve been directing my last few videos. I bought a nice handycam and have loved this process so much. I did some acting growing up as well. I would love to continue to explore those interests more.
7. Name 5 things we all should know about you as an artist?!
I’m very passionate about what I do and I put my everything I have into my work. I’m always changing, so don’t expect me to stay the same forever.
I’m working on a bunch of new music to release this year.
I met a new friend and collaborator this year named Mani Orrason, who is so amazing at production and is a great artist in his own right. So he has been a big influence on the new works from a production side. You should check him out. Last, I stand for equality of gender, race, and sexuality. I believe deeply in being your true self and that we should be lifting each other up in this regard, always.
8. The road so far…. who or what was your biggest support??
Honestly, my gut, my instincts. I have had plenty of close friends and family tell me not to do things I felt in my heart I wanted to do and try to achieve. I’ve followed my own compass. I have been lucky to have support from my Parents, Sister, and lately my wife, but no one understands this drive like I do. You have to do this thing for yourself and not give up, ever. Eventually people will start to see what you see, but you have to trust yourself and really believe in what you are doing.
9. A question you’d like to answer, but never been asked in an interview before?! + Answer pls
This is honestly hard to think of…I’ve never been asked my favorite Pizza place in Berlin. The answer is La Stella Nera in Neukölln.
