Thanks to the brilliant leather and sophisticated design features inspired by the art of writing, no other leather collection from the Maison embodies elegant luxury as skilfully as the signature Meisterstück collection. The collection takes its name from the distinctive design elements of Montblanc’s iconic fountain pen – perfect to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the masterpiece, inspired by the writing instrument’s long history.

The new expanded Meisterstück collection impresses with the dark color British Green from the Montblanc archives, which adorned a historic Meisterstück writing instrument from the 1920s. Marco Tomasetta, Montblanc Artistic Director, also found the inspiration for the fascinating sfumato effect, which is based on a historical inkstand, in the archives. Due to a gentle color transition from dark (on the lower part of the leather creations) to light (on the upper part), this effect is reminiscent of ink that is slowly absorbed into the paper. Since the effect is applied manually to the finished leather product at the end of the production process using airbrush technology, each creation is unique – a wonderful testament to many years of craftsmanship.

“The visual identity of this collection is rooted in the distinctive design elements of one of the most famous symbols of writing culture,” explains Marco Tomasetta, Montblanc Artistic Director. “This collection is constantly evolving with versatile and customizable designs and the latest creations explore another dimension with the deep green hue from the masterpiece’s past. They play with design details inspired by the beauty of ink and the process of being absorbed into paper.”

The expanded collection reinterprets timeless shapes large and small, now presented in a playful way in the unmistakably supple leather with an outstanding finish.

The new color British Green with sfumato effect adorns the following creations:

a Montblanc 149 bag – the largest of the Maison’s top leather products, which takes its name from the largest version (149) of the Meisterstück writing instrument.
a document bag – a functional and at the same time elegant companion for work. a messenger bag –
a modern version of the classic shoulder bag.
a range of small leather goods including wallets, card holders, pen cases and luggage tags.

With distinctive design details such as zippers with spring-shaped pullers, the Meisterstück collection pays tribute to the iconic writing instrument of the same name. The shape of the Meisterstück spring is also represented in leather details, such as the attachment points of the handles and straps.
