Jacob D. Edward releases ‚Borderline‘ + Exclusive Interview

what kind of drink would you recommend to zip on while they listen to your new music?

You’ll enjoy this album to the fullest while sipping on a double Scottish whiskey (without ice ofcourse). For the non-drinkers I would recommend a pot of chamomile tea

2. Please give us an update about – new single, new album, tour dates, new videos?!

My debut album ‚Borderline‘ will come out on the 14th of Februari. It’s folk music in the style of the 60’s and 70’s, infused with rock, blues, americana, jazz and pop

3. We live in times of many conspiracy theories. Which, harmless, theory would you wish were true? (For example Dinos living inside Earth or E.T. living in a home in California)

I wish the theory of a surviving ancient civilization underground or in atlantis would be true. That would make archeology significantly less boring.

4. What fashion style or brand would best describe your music?

It would be LEE jeans. It’s good ol‘ workingclass singer-songwritermusic sliced right out of life.

5. Tell us more about your songs! Topics! Message!?

My songs are meant to be replayed and my albums are meant to be heard in one sitting. Borderline, my new album is about adolescence. Every extreme emotion and experience that is common in these years of the deathrattle of your youth is represented in a song. That’s why I chose to employ multiple genres

6. Beside music, do you have any special talents?

My brain is an encyclopedia of practically useless knowledge on music, philosphy, cinema, video-games, literature and history. I guess it’s ADHD with a whiff of autism. I also paint and write poetry

7. Name 5 things we all should know about you as an artist?!

1. Nothing in my music is what it seems on the surface

2. I would like to reach a large audience and I’m prepared to sacrifice nearly everything to achieve it.

3. My goal is to break from the stereotypical image of the singer-songwriter. Live I constantly play with the audience’s expectation

4. I experiment with blurring the lines of what can be a song and how it’s structured

5. When a song of mine is written in a traditional way, it is deliberate. The style choice has a meaning to it too

8. The road so far…. who or what was your biggest support??

Frank Bond was and is my biggest support. He is also a very dear friend. He helps me with every step of the process. He records and produces my music and promotes me via his label King Forward Records. He is a brilliant musician, and in my opinion by far the best songwriter of the Netherlands. Check out his band AlascA or one of his pseudonym’s like Francis Alban Blake

9. A question you’d like to answer, but never been asked in an interview before?!

+ Answer pls

Looking back, what would have you done differently in your musical carreer?

If I could so something over again, I would have started playing earlier. Originally I wanted to go learn how to play the guitar once I retired. A friend pushed me to do it and I started playing and singing when I was 16. When you want to do something, or when you have a passion, start yesterday. If you don’t you’re robbing yourself of a purpose and something that could be an integral part of your personality or identity
