1. Thank you very much for your time! Before we introduce your new release to our readers – what kind of drink would you recommend to sip on while they listen to your new music?
OOO…. okay I have a few too many favorites, but right now I am turned into a super spicy mezcal margarita with a Tajin rim. I wanna feel my mouth on fire.
2. Please give us an update about – new single and video „Dirty Habits“?!
Dirty Habits is probably the best thing that has ever happened to me… This song and this music video are a creation that I began to put into work last summer while I was in my previous rock band. I was getting this itch to jump into pop music. I knew there was something missing for me and for my fans – just releasing this song last week it has already proven to be true that my instincts were correct. It IS a Dirty Habits summer AKA doing bad things that maybe you will regret in Winter but you WON’T regret for Summer.
3. We live in times of many conspiracy theories. Which, harmless, theory would you wish were true? (For example Dinos living inside Earth or E.T. living in a home in California)
I am a firm believer that sloths can run. I haven’t been able to prove it but I do feel like those claws don’t lie. They are TERRIFYING. That smile is freaky and no one has ever been able to change my mind on that.
4. What fashion style or brand would best describe your music?
I am a Free People addict and have been since I was in high school. There is something about the free-ness of the brand that has impacted my on stage style and shown me that there is no right way to dress. The brand has inspired me to wear any color I please at any season – hence my custom on-stage look by Caitriona Hanly that is full of colors, fabrics, and textures. This is inspired by my previous on-stage style, imagery pulls from my favorite brands like Gucci and Chloe, and my long-lasting history with Free People as an employee for the last 10 years.
5. Tell us more about your songs! Topics! Message!?
My music is meant to make you dance and forget about the things that are holding you back outside of the space you’re currently in. It is meant to be sexually freeing, hold no boundaries, and guide you to your truest self. That is what I am trying to do when I am writing it – there is nothing else to it – how can I feel my free-est and let go of every single limit I have ever held for myself.
6. Beside music, do you have any special talents?
Cooking!! I love to cook. That is my favorite way to unwind – by making some intricate meal that I have never made before. My dad and I are experts (sort of) in making Baklava. We make it for every Holiday!
7. Name 5 things we all should know about you as an artist?!
1) I write my music in a variety of ways, but one of the first ways is through a random idea I’ll throw on the voice-memo app on my phone.
2) I have dreams of being a drummer.
3) My biggest inspirations are Stevie Nicks, Norah Jones, and Brandi Carlile.
4) I was on the Voice when I was 18! Team Blake and I sang Cecilia and The Satellite. I actually just met Andrew McMahon at SXSW when I went to his book signing!
5) My secret weapon to being on stage is my custom looks – my recent custom look is made by Caitriona Hanly. We took months to make the perfect look that fits my body like a glove – super key to keeping me comfortable.
8. The road so far…. who or what was your biggest support??
My biggest support has been my band. They keep me mentally sane whenever we have a show. I don’t get stage fright but I get fright that people won’t have fun at my show (which sounds silly but it is my biggest fear). I also always worry my band won’t have fun which again, is my worst fear!! I just want people to enjoy their time. If I didn’t have a killer band, I would be a mess.
9. A question you’d like to answer, but never been asked in an interview before?! + Answer pls
What is in your nightstand drawer? Answer: My eye mask, pencils, my journal, my toy (if you know you know), two little clay elephants from my Grandma, random junk that I throw in there when I don’t feel like climbing to my memory box.
